Quick seating, friendly staff, far service, complementary chips & salsa and then chicken soup. Good was great with lovely portion sizes!
I used to walk to Lomeli's because it's so close to my home and I became a really big fan of their tacos lenguas. I almost always get that, it's my favourite. But one time I saw that they had pozole on their menu and the server informed me that they only prepare it for their Sunday menu (it was Tuesday) but I took my tacos and told her I'd definitely be back on a Sunday to order their pozole. So, I came back that weekend, prepared to order. I think it was the same server taking my order but one of her coworkers (supervisor? manager?) interjected herself into our dialogue, telling me this menu item is expensive (it's like $22) and telling me how it's served "family style" telling me how it's not just a single portion for one guy- she was literally attempting to discourage me from ordering something that I'd been looking forward to. I was ordering something I was familiar with. I was ordering something that they ought to have been proud to serve. Why was she being so rude and unpleasant? I had never engaged with this woman before. Maybe she thought I'd be disappointed with a large amount of delicious soup because...? I can't imagine why. But this happened months ago. I took home the big batch of pozole and I ate it all by myself over the course of 2.5 days. It tasted decent. I'm writing a review now because of the way that person behaved. It was just so immature and bizarre. It bothered me enough to make me never want to order from this place ever again. In fact, I make pozole at home now and it tastes way better than what they served me (because I'm a nice person and food tastes better when you're not ignorant and rude.) 😉
Delicious AND affordable! Came here for a dinner on a Monday night. It wasn't busy and we got seated right way. The waitress gave us complimentary chips and salsa and a cup of soup. The soup hit just right on a rainy night. The waitress gave us 2 alternative less spicy salsas without us even asking! We ordered the lengua (beef tongue) burrito and the lengua gordito dinner. It was so good. The lengua was so tender and flavorful. It's so hard to find good lengua like this in the Chicagoland area. Everything cost us less than $25. We will be back!
