I've eaten A LOT of Ethiopian food in the US and abroad. Sadly there is only 1 restaurant in town these days (I remember when we had 4 at one time). It's located in a very busy gas station, the patrons are lively. After confirming my order a couple times because it was off menu, I sat down and waited for my food. I was told 10 mins but it could have been longer but the time passed quickly. I was offered a stool and sat in the corner smiling and enjoying the cashier's interactions with customers. The food- omg!The flavors are authentic and everything was delicious. I ordered my favorites off menu and was surprised at the amount I was given. The container could barely close and I was given extra injera which almost brought tears to my eyes iykyk. The salad was fresh and bright with the floral kick of fresh jalapeño. Gomen was *chef's kiss*. I'm already planning my next visit and meal- gomen tibs and rice...with salad. I definitely recommend calling ahead but even if you don't, it's definitely worth the wait.
as a habesha woman myself, i love this place!! awaze tibs are my favorite and im so happy there’s finally a place in jacksonville with authentic tasting food!
