This was one of the more charming restaurants and delicious meals I've had through my excursion through Alsace. Our host/waiter greeting us with a worried warning that this was a vegetarian establishment, which we were all to happy to reply to with a nod and a warm smile. A simple set menu for my wife and I. I opted for the salade verte (a mix of tender lettuces, peas, dill, dried fruits, tomatoes, and a lemon vinaigrette), while she had the chilled curried lental soup. Both were a satisfyingly fresh reprieve from the oppresively heavy Alsacien cuisine we've dined on so far. The main was a risotto consisting of leeks, dill, hazlenuts, and zuchinni. The plate rim garnished with szechuan peppercorn was an unexpected, but ingenious surprise. For dessert, a Linz tart, and an apricot cake. The Linz was jammy, with a crumbly, oat shortbred crust. A perfect blend of fruit sweetness and salty richness. The apracot cake contained an unciousness, paired with a satisfying acidity, finished with dried lavender. Neither was too sweet, and paired well with a cup of coffee. The meal was reasonably priced, given its quality. The restaurant itself was an open, simple but cheery room adorned with sparse art and paper lanterns from the ceiling. The waiter and cook were lovely women that appeared to enjoy their work and rounded on the guests with warm interest. This was genuinely my favorite dining experience of the trip so far. No, it wasn't a Michelin star estabilshment or haute cuisine one expects from a French dining experience, but it was authentic, welcoming, and good for the soul.
So amazing To the person that gave this place 1 star... This is a tiny, family run restaurant and everyone is super friendly it is understandable that when you call at 22.20 that they won't serve you.....
So happy we found this little gem! The food was excellent, the atmosphere cosy and the pot of tea came with cute cups and was nice to share. You can taste the familes authenticity in every course 🫶
