See All ReviewsI have been doing self care dining Fridays using my Jetblue dining recommendations. This was the next restaurant in line and it did not disappoint. It was well worth the time and effort to go there. I had the fried calamari and the seafood rice. Both were excellent. I ordered takeout and spent the journey home struggling not to open the containers because the smell was so tantalizing. The portions are very large and could easily feed 3 people. I would definitely go back.
On recommendation we came to this restaurant. We are a pretty diverse group of 4. We walked into an empty but clean and aesthetically pleasing dining room. We were told to sit anywhere and chose a table that seated 4. We were given a dinner special menu and I asked for the other menu along with a drink menu. We initially ordered calamari and our drinks which were an espresso martini and a cosmopolitan which were the best tasting thing there. Seeing that it was on recommendation we were told to try salmon bruschetta which was extremely fishy, like being extremely fishy. We. Pant est it at all. I went on a whim and decided to order something outside the box. I ordered a grill octopus and after my first bite decided it wasn’t for me. I explained to them that I didn’t like it and they just took it away. They didn’t asked if I wanted to substitute it for anything else so i assumed it would be taken off the bill. My son’s girlfriend ordered steak but it was in gravy and it tasted spoiled. Same issue, they took it away without offering a substitute. My son and his friend ordered a steak sandwich and some ribs and even tho they weren’t fans, the ate a few bites and pieces. We had to call them multiple times to explain to them why we didn’t like our meal and each time it took at least 15 minutes and 2 tries to get their attention. At this point we were ready to go. We asked for the bill and again they asked us why we didn’t like the meal, again we explained how it tasted and how it smelled. They unfortunately charged us for everything that was ordered and even taken away. We asked how can we pay for things that we didn’t like or ate or even substituted and they said it was their policy. That everything was in fresh today and it wasn’t their problem. I told them that I take on full responsibility of paying for the octopus even tho I didn’t eat it but I’ll take it to go( my intentions were to give it to a homeless person who might find it to their liking) they said that their chef had to taste our foods and then she proceed to bring it back to me so I can pack it. My son’s gf asked them to taste the bruschetta since her and I shared one and they refused. She said her meal tasted spoiled and they didn’t wanna do anything about it. It wasn’t until they were challenged about not offering another dish and to take our food away to be “taste tested” and hat someone else came to our table to rectify the issue. The initial waiter didn’t want to refund us any money even tho we were just asking for one plate to be removed. The second waiter said he’ll take off one meal and the initial waiter threw the receipt in his face and said “ then you do it” and walked off. We end up leaving everything they brought back after admitting it went for taste testing and missing for 45 mins. We were verbally attacked and made out to be wrong in the situation. I end up paying the bill out of principal but we will never visit or recommend this establishment to anyone in the future.
We have dining at Lusiadas for a couple of decades or so. As I understand it, it changed ownership not long ago. Last Sunday we had Ameijoas Bulhão Pato: best ever here and in Portugal. Its Bacalhau a Lagareiro (take-away) was superb. Very good value wines (Guarda Rios) and with Portuguese background music: Casa da Mariquinhas, among other classics.
