A bit surprised, the dishes used to be good but not anymore! I don't mean bad food, the quality is just below average rated 3 stars for improvement. Hainanese chicken is a big let down, the chicken is dry, soup is the worst you can ever taste. Singapore noodle has lost its curry flavour not Singapore style at all, plain stir fry. Combination beef hor fun is watery, flavourless and noodles has broken down to small pieces. Hope the chef(s) will take this review to consideration and bring back the usual standard to attract more dinners.
We had our company event here and honestly, I wish I could give 10 stars. The place was clean and cosy, and the staff were friendly. The food surprised me in the best way, everything was fresh and so tasty. My top picks: chicken wings, skewers, Char Kway Teow, seafood laksa, Hainanese chicken, and the homemade curry puff. The chicken wings and skewers were juicy, flavourful, and clearly well-marinated. The Char Kway Teow wasn’t oily and the portion size was just right. and the Hainanese chicken was so fresh and tender — the best I’ve had in Melbourne in the past 7 years. The curry puff tasted genuinely homemade. The Laksa with coconut base which was really tasty and you can add sambal if you wish bit more spicy. And the ice kacang… wow. The rose flavour was amazing. Honestly, I’m so surprised we found a place like this in Melbourne. Highly recommend!!!
Delicious food and lovely staff always smiling. Can’t wait to try the other dishes.
Pretty good. The veggies in the laksa are kind of random. Baby corn, mushrooms, capsicum, buk choy etc and the eggplant tastes more boiled than fried. But it’s nice enough for the price and I really like the type of tofu puffs they use. And the mint.
An unassuming restaurant front, I must have driven past hundred times, without realizing it's a Malaysian restaurant. We ordered the char mee and chicken rice, one of the best I've had in Melbourne, generous portion of chicken. Wonderful customer service, definitely will be back!
Had a craving for some Malaysian cuisine. We ordered the entré special, hainanese chicken, curry laksa and ice kacang. All of it was marvellous and we'll be back as soon as we can. It was worth the travel across melbourne to get here and enjoy this restaurant. Check it out super tasty. And very reasonably priced.
We don't normally travel across Melbourne city just to dine at a restaurant but Malaymas is definitely one of our exceptions. Everything we had there was delicious and packed with authentic flavors. I highly recommend their curry laksa (we had the fish ball one), fried chicken wings, curry puffs, Hainanese chicken rice and don't forget their ice kacang!! To top it off, they have a wonderful cast of responsive, friendly and efficient staff members. We were looked after really well and felt like home. Thank you!
Great family Malaysian food joint in suburb not usually filled with asians, nicely BBQ satay with delicious peanut sauce, the hainanese chicken rice is very good, chicken was not over done and very juicy and tasty, the chicken rice was plump and chilli is nice, definitely one of better chicken rice place in Melbourne. The Har Mee is very good and highly recommended for someone who is not really into prawn noodle, this was surprisingly good, the prawn soup was very good and not very salty indicating hours spent on boiling the prawn stock. Noodles, prawns, pork meat were very fresh and well cooked. Recommend a visit, great place that the cuisine is not customized to Caucasians, with authenticity respect to asian cuisine. Owner, chef and Jimmy family will give great service, food and ambience.
