Biscuts and gracy were delicious, but I got a veggie omelet. It was the worst omelet I've ever had in my life and im not a picky person. The mushroom and onion tasted so burnt and the toppings were only in the very middle. Ohh 98$ for 3 adults and 2 kids!!!! Will not go back.
Omg, this place is amazing! It's like a trip back in time, great food, and lots of it. Wish I had fully appreciated this place when I was going to school in Carbondale, but I only went a handful of times. I have been trying to make up for the lost opportunity since by going every time I am back in town. Every breakfast item I have tried has been amazing, the biscuits and gravy are to die for! The French toast and pancakes are also spectacular. They give you a lot of food for a really good price, it takes me two or three meals to eat it all
This is one of my favorites!! The atmosphere is filled with nostalgia of celebrities that have passed through. The staff is friendly and always remember my face when I visit. (Hey Trina!!) The food is always cooked to order and delicious. I've never had to send anything back or complain. Definitely a place to try.
Mary’s Lou’s Diner in Carbondale, IL, is a cozy, old-fashioned diner near Route 51. It’s busy and has fast service, making it great for a quick meal. Just keep in mind they close at 2 PM. Worth a visit!
This type of place is in my list of favorites not just for the great food but also the awesome service we receive every time we are there... I love the family-like/friends treatment we get and we are always full and happy when we leave... Thank you for being a Carbondale staple!!! Love you guys!
Old school great food. Order your favorite breakfast and get biscuits and gravy for free. Last time I ate here was over 30 years ago...the food and service is still the best. Keep up the great work!
Mary Lou's is a Carbondale staple. If you come through it's a must visit for breakfast, especially. With every breakfast 'meal' comes a 'side' of biscuits and gravy AND a coffee included. It's a deal I have not seen elsewhere but it absolutely needs to be! They do all the breakfast basics well and you will leave with a satisfied stomach!
I will start with saying that the positive thing about this place was that the staff was friendly. Once I ordered my food it came quickly, but it was not made correctly. I was supposed to have two over medium eggs, one was undercooked one was overcooked. The ham was not as good as it looked. I got wheat toast instead of white toast and only one piece. The coffee was old because it was way too strong. Even the cook said that she thought it was too strong. My potatoes had no taste at all, even after adding salt and pepper. I did not finish my food because it was not worth eating. My waiter never came back to check on me not once. He dropped my ticket off with my food I guess so he didn't have to come back. I'm hoping they just had a bad day. I can't imagine a place that's been open that long is not good. That being said I don't think I'll come back to find out.
