See All ReviewsVery disappointing experience at the canteen inside Meenakshi Amman Temple, Pearland. I normally do not leave negative reviews, especially for a place connected to a temple, but the overall experience here has repeatedly been unpleasant. The food quality and taste were honestly below average considering the prices they charge. This is not a free service or charity setup — customers are paying prices and expecting at least decent food and respectful service in return. What was more upsetting was the behavior of the staff. The way people are spoken to is very rude, harsh, and unwelcoming. Families, elderly visitors, and devotees are being ordered around without basic courtesy or respect. It genuinely feels like customers are being treated as a burden rather than guests visiting a temple environment. A temple should represent kindness, patience, and hospitality. Unfortunately, the canteen atmosphere felt completely opposite. If someone is attending a long temple event with family and planning to eat there, I would strongly not recommend this place. There are much better nearby options with tastier food, better service, and more respectful staff. Honestly, places like Suvai Indian Restaurant nearby provide a far better experience and much better value for the money. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both customer service and food quality because this kind of experience reflects poorly on the overall temple visit.
The cafeteria is part of one of the oldest and expansive Hindu temples in North America, Meenakshi Temple, Pearland, Houston. The cafeteria opened in the 90s to serve diaspora with delicious home style meals and eatable continues to pamper the tastebuds with delicious dosa varieties, snacks, and other rice and wheat based items. The proceeds go towards the temple development and Meenakshi temple society's outreach initiatives, so do visit over a weekend and satiate your spiritual and gastric hunger 😀. For me, I live close by so I eat here often
