See All ReviewsTried this restaurant on a recommendation from a long time Savannah resident. We came from FL 7 years ago and I love a good steak with a whiskey for a nice dinner experience. The only one around recently closed and I'm tired of all the catfish and BBQ places that put little effort into decor/presentation. Now, Meo Mios is under new owners so this review shouldn't be confused with anything from the past ownership did. The service was excellent, we arrived at open and there were only a few customers but still, top notch service. I had the 12 oz ribeye which was done exactly as requested. Wife had shrimp bucket. She was pleased with her shrimp and the sides, I especially liked the warm, buttered bread stick that came with the ribeye. I'm picky about my whiskey. No Scotch available and I'm a snoot here so usually have to have a wide selection to have my preferences (15 yo McCallan single, Dalwhiney single etc). I prefer George Dickell for my American whiskey ( distilled in Tullahoma). Tho offerings? Jack Daniels of course 😴. I had a Miller Lite. The absolute only complaint would be price. I know grocery and beef prices have gone up but I get really good steak from Piggly Wig for a reasonable price. Bill was $74 for what i think was a nice $50 meal. I will be back but on special occasions and please, expand that bar selection. High recommendation 👍.
Went for their grand opening under a new name and ownership. It's now JBs on the River. Food was really good! I had their catfish bucket and the catfish was seasoned very well. The service was outstanding and the waitress even put up with my brothers sense of humor! Haha
We don’t typically leave negative reviews, but unfortunately our recent experience was disappointing from start to finish. My husband made reservations two days in advance over the phone, but when we arrived, there was no record of it. We were seated in the back, which wasn’t ideal but we tried to remain understanding. We started with the gator bites ($15.99), and were surprised by the very small portion — mostly crumbs with just a few small pieces. It did not feel representative of the price. After waiting a little over an hour for our entrées, my Cajun Buffalo shrimp arrived. The flavor was very good, the portion was generous, and the price felt fair for what I received. However, my husband ordered the ½ lb crab legs, ½ lb shrimp, and fish bucket ($39.99), and unfortunately that dish was very disappointing. The crab legs were acceptable, but the shrimp were soggy, gray, and mushy in texture. He only tried two pieces because the quality was concerning. The fried fish portion was also extremely small — three pieces roughly the size of a quarter, not even half of a fillet. Service was also very slow. After being there for about two hours, we had to go find our waitress at the bar in another room just to pay our bill. We truly wanted to enjoy our experience, but based on the food quality and service, we will not be returning. I really wish I had taken pictures.
