Lengua should not include the outer skin and should not have any of the taste buds. That said, if you can't prep the meat correctly you should at least season the meat. The women working at mexicali have some issue with African American customers for some reason, I was not welcomed inside the restaurant, I was given looks behind my back, and the prices are way too expensive for the low quality. I wish I got my money back. But I will not be back. If you don't like me then refuse me service next time. Don't run your mouth and roll your eyes.
I've been coming here with my parents since I was about 7 or 8, I'm 24 now and I can confidently say it's still great food. Their carnitas are flavorful, the breakfast burritos are filling- and the prices are really affordable. The staff is very friendly and they always greet and say goodbye to us. The service is quick, and my order is never made wrong. For a quick bite to eat that packs a lot of flavor- and won't break the bank, this is the spot. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone wanting some great authentic Mexican food with affordable pricing.
I love this place! This was the first place we ate the day we moved to Oregon back in 1989. I have worked down the street from them for the last 26 years, so go here often for lunch. For fast Mexican food, this place reigns supreme. I really like that they serve the BEST breakfast burritos all day, every day and that they have a drive-thru. They also have the best fries and fry sauce and a complete salsa bar inside. The prices are extremely reasonable too, especially for this timeline we're in. But my most favorite thing about Mexicali Express are the people that work there. They are always so kind and friendly; it's like getting good food from a trusted friend or family member. I really appreciate this place and wish them many more years of success!
Overall , a good experience. The food was hot , serve quickly and hot , very good flavor. The main point - order at the counter & great prices. Just like others mentioned, it was nice to have a self serve salsa bar.
2/8/2026 Again, I waited way too long to visit Mexicali Express. I asked a friend who likes this kind of food to join me. Her first time. She really appreciated the place. I'm raising the food and service Ratings above. Even though you have to go to a counter and order, the staff is most pleasant. I had a simple breakfast burrito and I loved it. It had been a long time since I was at Mexicali Express. I had a type of breakfast burrito instead of my usual favorite, a pulled chicken with pineapple burrito. It was good. For a business in an older building, things are ok. Negatives for me included: Hard picnic like tables. I've lost a lot of weight recently so I could just barely fit into my seat. I used to have to sit on the end in a chair or turned sideways on the seat. One can look outside through many windows. Although kept clean, it had a dirty vibe. Perhaps not a fair thing to say. What is inconvenient is going outside and to the restroom in the back, stepping over a fairly steep curb and through doors that don't have easy access at all. If you are disabled I wouldn't even try to get to the restroom. Staff is nice enough and the food was only a han Is very difficult to
Hands down one of the best salsa bars in the city. Super fresh. We have some great salsas that meet everybody's taste. My favorite is this white salsa that they have that is just amazing on everything, especially their potatoes. Especially their potatoes. so these guys have The best breakfast they use real bacon real potatoes. You don't get that flat pressed cardboard bacon like you see at McDonald's and other fast food restaurants and cheaper breakfast establishments like Elmer's or Denny's.. I love dining inn because a lot of their business is through their drive-thru so that keeps the inside. Always available for seating and pretty quiet. It's a great place to have a morning breakfast. And on top of that their pricing is absolutely amazing. Across the street is Tom's pancake House which is super expensive. Always packed, and if you ask me their breakfast is just okay... I've been going to this place for over 20 years and I normally go once or twice a week. Love it!
A solid place to get some good food quick and at a reasonable price. The place has been here for as long as I can remember. The interior may seem a bit dated but was clean. We ordered the Chile Verde, Mexicali fries (sidewinder fries), beefy Nacho Supreme, and some street tacos (carnitas, language, and steak). The Chile Verde was excellent. I liked how the meat and flavor of the sauce went together. The meat was tender and ready to eat. The meat on the street tacos was also pretty good. I liked that they have a sauce bar that is self-service. I was able to try a bit of everything. Overall, it's worth coming and getting some good food.
Found this place a couple of weeks ago and have been twice. The pricing is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu has a good selection of burritos and tacos and they have a good bar of condiments. The last burrito I had was full of good ingredients but was quite bland (moreso than I expected). I still plan on coming back to try other items. Maybe I got a dud. Their mexi-fries are quite unique. It is like a blend between a steak fry and a curly fry. Never seen them anywhere else. I will be back. It is a great value.
