Palm Bay 1150 Malabar Road: If you have never eaten food from a Construction site food truck (Roach Coach) here’s your chance. A cross between Pollo Tropical (which is much much better) and Panda Express ( which is better and in walking distance). Not much planning went into this. A three compartment to go container: over filled with rice ( don’t ask any questions, just point to what you may think to be good and keep moving), two pieces of plantains and four ounces of pork (two of which were fat and grizzle ), weighed….what restaurant weighs your food?….. Oh, these are produce market people.. I just paid $9.45 for yellow rice. We were not expecting James Beard, but at least someone who read a Danny Meyer’s book.
Once you have had food in Puerto Rico, you would know this place is absolutely nothing to write home about. The selection is mediocre, they don't have something as simple as pollo al ajillo, which is a staple in every restaurant in the island. They at least accommodated the request to prepare it, but the sauce was 2/3rds oil, and had a strong margarine flavor. The mofongo was dry, and had an overwhelming amount of that bagged chicharrón. When the waitress came to ask for our feedback, we noted that the mofongo had a bit much of said chicharrón(bagged pork skin), and no fresh made, and she quickly became offended and started to tout that the restaurant was the best in the area because of how much the bagged pork rinds they used. Seriously, if you grew up on the island, or are interested in real Puertorican food - don't come here, it's not worth it.
