If you're riding thru Blackstone va thinking about a place to get a good cheeseburger, And you see Mitchell's Restaurant. KEEP GOING..... McDonald's is right past them. I stopped at Mitchell's the burger was cooked hard as a rock on the outside, and as dry as dust on the inside. I ask for extra mayonnaise and hardly got any. CHEESEBURGER, FRIES, N A BOTTLE DRINK 20 BUCKS , WHICH FOR A GOOD BURGER AIN'T BAD... BUT FOR A BURGER LIKE I GOT, 20 BUCKS WAS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!
We ordered the fried mushrooms. They were really good. I had the pork chop dinner. I always worry (anywhere) that they might be overcooked. They were cooked perfectly. The only thing was, why do restaurants feel they must pour on the pepper? The chop was delicious once I scraped most of it off. It's a popular thing these days, I just don't understand why. Otherwise everything was great.
Our family gathered here and the food was great! Be sure to get the fried seafood, sweet potato fries, hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, and cabbage! Everyone enjoyed their meals!
Like most restraunts (and there aren't that many) in Blackstone Va the vibe is very casual hometown. I got the pulled pork barbecue and was given the choice of Carolina or Memphis style. I will always choose Carolina and I found that vinegar base pretty enjoyable. Ours was a group of 8 and we went thru 4 pitchers of beer and appetizer servings of hot wings (hot) , shrimp and fries. All were tasty. The service was friendly and tolerant as im sure we got louder as the beer disappeared. One other bit of info, if you get a room for the night at the Wedgewood Motel you drink your fill and then walk back to your motel. No car ride necessary.
Staff were friendly and food was pretty good. But the prices were very high and the service was very slow. Will probably pass through next time.
It was a Wednesday we got there at 5 PM by 6 PM. It was pretty well packed. The server was very pleasant. The food was delicious and I had pickled beets and they were so fresh and tasty. Even the customers were extremely friendly it definitely was the perfect small town vibe. And before we left, even the owner stopped by to converse for a moment, she was extremely pleasant as well. It was an awesome dinner experience if you’re passing through the Blackstone Virginia area definitely recommend stopping. The booths were wonderful for privacy and quiet, Perfect for a date it was so private and quiet. Oh, and we had an appetizer it was exceptional. It was the sampler.
Stopped in for lunch around 2:00pm. Missed the rush. The seating area was clean and in good repair showing that they do care about the impression they want to leave for the customer. I had the patty melt with a mac n' cheese side while my Bride had the nachos. Both were good, served promptly and still hot. The mushrooms were large and not the premade type some restaurants get from their suppliers. Will be back for a second helping soon. The staff and food were welcoming and definitely left us with that we will be back feeling. A recommend stop when in Blackstone.
We took a little Antique road trip to Blackstone this weekend, and stopped in at Mitchell's for lunch. It's a cute homey little place with a fairly decent variety. I had the Nachos, and hubby had the patty melt with a side of Mac and cheese. We ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms, and we both had a diet soda. The mushrooms were good, nice large breaded shrooms, they served it with a horseradish sauce which I don't care for, so they happily supplied us with a cup of ranch. Hubby enjoyed his food, I was in the mood for a club sandwich, but they only had a turkey club, so I settled on the nachos. They were your basic nachos, not too bad, but a bit skimpy with the toppings. The staff were very friendly, and our waitress gave good service. It was a nice relaxing lunch. Price before tip was about $39
