I was in Germany for 2+ yrs and was introduced to Gyros. Kozaks and Hellas in Tarpin Springs are the only places in 35 yrs that I have found that's holds up to my expectations. I have tried different places and was very disappointed. This is what is left after was done with the peta. Lot of extra meat etc. I was there on 1/29/26. This is what I got. Burnt peta, chunky sauce. The meat actually did taste like it was fresh. Felt like it was the result of being microwaved. This by far the worst Peta I had from kozaks.
I send my niece to get my gyro extra crispy and this time I was on the phone because my order is never right. The worker acknowledged the way the food was to be made but unfortunately I received barely grilled chopped up meat, texture matter. I would have preferred being told no they can’t do that instead of wasting food and money. The reason for the 1 stars for the food is because it was not made correctly. The reason for the 1 start for the service is 1 unfortunately due to acknowledging how I want my food, but still making the food incorrect.
We love the food but in the years we have been going at least a half dozen times they have not been open when we got there during their normal business hours. They do not answer their phone so it is impossible to call ahead to verify that they are open. Very frustrating. Even if it shows online that they are open, this cannot be trusted, so you drive all the way there to find out that they are closed.
