Cab driver was playing really sexually graphic rap music the whole time and was super rude at the end. And I swear to god, charged me $237 to go 17 miles. Told me it's been this much money for 15 years and said "New York City is expensive". Coming from Chicago, I know what's expensive and I know what's absurd. Couldn't even leave the taxi when he told me the cost cause he told me this on the highway. My fault for not getting the price up front but I never expected to be scammed like this. When I got to my destination, he didn't want to give me a receipt and only took Cash/Zelle - naturally. Weird how the receipt indicates multiple stops (never happened) and the tip (which was asked for separately). Absolute criminals.
Complete rip off. Ride from airport to hotel was supposed to be $44. Cab #106 charged $51.50. We gave him a $7 tip. When we got the credit card statement, he charged us $74.70.
Really lousy service. Took a cab from Newark Airpot to Rye, booked at the counter inside the arrival hall. Ticked showed approx. 120 USD. Driving skills of driver questionable - put me at risk 4 times during the ride. When I finally arrived, the driver asked for 200 USD (cab 106). Once and never again. Next time, i wait 5 more minutes to take an Uber ride and save 70 bucks.
