Let me preface this review by saying I love Ocean's fish and chips, but today was just a bad experience. I arrived at 6:50, placed an order for a 3 Fish plate and a Calamari basket, and was informed that my order would take 30 minutes, so I chose to wait inside. I waited for an hour; the only communication from the staff was an associate exclaiming that I had been waiting over 45 minutes. And the icing on the cake was that when my order was ready, and I arrived home, they had gotten it wrong. No calamari basket in sight, should I have checked it in the establishment? Yes. That’s on me. But, for waiting an hour, the order should be right at least. Won’t be coming back here for a while.
Best fish and chips ever! Hole in the wall restaurant but my god the fish and chips were good!!
Great fish!! It's an older place but really good food. The young man at the counter wasn't very helpful. But overall this is a good place.
We were in elk grove 12-22-2025 for a overnight stay. Stay away from here unless you want frozen food from. Costco. Fried clams were burned. Lucky if you get a dozen of them. Clam clouded was nasty. Tasted old and was watered. If nasty under cook. Fried fish was. Dry as a cotton ball. Very dirty place. Didn't notice until we used the restrooms. The older lady owner wanted to argue with me when. I told her this so called food was the worst we ever tried to eat. We left our food on the table and left. But we did pay. Our bank is dealing with them I'm calling the health department today. Gross!!!!stay away!
The food here is all flavorless and even salt won't stick to the fries to make them better. The calamari was chewy and stringy. The jalapeno poppers taste like overcooked, frozen poppers that got costed in their flavorless batter. Super disappointed and really wish we would have seen the refund within an hour policy before tossing our plates into the trash because we would have definitely asked for a refund. The location in Sacramento is much farther away but definitely much better food quality, taste, and options. The service is mid.
We are at the Sacramento location and they had a better menu with more options. So we decided to try the Elk Grove location today and boy was that food bland with zero seasoning. Got the calimari and it was over cook and seasonless. I would not recommend this place at all. Wife got the cheese jalapeno poppers and tasted like frozer over cooked mess. Sorry but save your money go to the sac location more options and their food was good!
This quaint shop is an excellent place to stop in for a quick and delicious bite, their customer service has been impeccable and matches the quality of the food, which is likely the best fish n' chips in the area, my whole family has eaten there, even with shellfish allergies, and loved every bite. The fish is fresher and tastier than Long John Silvers with more consistent speed, quality, and flavor. Certainly getting your money's worth, much more than most places you could visit these days.
It's the most delicious fish and chips restaurant in Elk Grove. Fish is very fresh and crispy. It’s crispy on the outside and soft and juicy inside. Other menus are tasty too. Employees were all very friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. If you come to Elk Grove, I highly recommend you to come and taste it.
