Food was excellent. So glad we stopped. We were confused at first trying to find it as the signage was missing due to a storm. Google maps was showing us it was the last building on the block, it is not. It didn't look like a restaurant but a store front. We googled again and then decided to open the door and so glad we did....we enjoyed it immensely. Thank you.
No frills menu with amazing food. I order shrimp tacos whenever they are on the menu and this place has the best I've ever had. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavors. I have yet to have something I didn't like. Fried pickles & shrimp tacos are my favorites. Also of note-- a gluten free dessert and pies made on site daily. Will not disappoint!
Amazing homemade clam chowder soup, we drive from Chicago to visit our daughter in college and Offshore Fish and Chips is a MUST stop in Calumet! Fish and chips are best in the U.P. Good prices, extremely friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. A must stop in the U.P. of Michigan!
Remember how your mother always told you; don't judge the book by it's cover. From the street, the Offshore Fish & Chips doesn't really stand out as anything special. Looks are deceiving. This is a classic "mom and pop" family owned business. The husband is an actual professional chef which you wouldn't expect finding in a small town. His wife is one of the wait staff. Aside from there being some issues getting all ingredients for menu items, we had an excellent lunch. The onion rings were scratch made on premises. The fish tacos were some of the best we have had. Then there is the key lime pie. Having traveled to Key West multiple times, we have had VERY GOOD pie in Florida. Offshore's pie is as good as anything you will find in the Florida Keys. Dining room was clean, restrooms were clean; excellent lunch.
We were visiting the area and starving so we decided to try this place. The shrimp tacos were DELICIOUS. The fish & chips were okay. The atmosphere was a bit strange. Everyone who enters kinda awkwardly stood around before being told to seat themselves. Our server seemed shy but polite. I loved the decorations here.
A hidden gem in a small town with rich histories. The clam chowder was delicious! You can tell it was homemade because I found part of a bay leaf. We had "trio" that was not on the menu but was recommended - fried shrimp, cod, and lake superior whitefish. Portions were generous but price was very reasonable considering the quality. Highly recommended!! 😊
Heard about this place and that is was a great place to grab a quick bite. I ordered two fish tacos to go and the waitress recommended the Mexican grapefruit soda which tasted like a better version of Squirt. I'd say my wait time was less then 5 minutes and was pretty pleased with the taco overall. If I had to nitpick I would say it was alittle to heavy on the cabbage but the fish was very good! Looking forward to trying the other things on their menu!
1st of all, they are definitely not closed! If you're standing on the corner of Elm & 5th & look North you'd miss seeing the hanging sign, it's blocked by Artis Books & Antiques. Just take a stroll up the block & you'd find it. Great place! Great food, very clean and spacious setup. Local artwork on the walls. Had the Superior Whitefish, yummy in my tummy! Will be back!
