Friendly staff. Great food. Best coconut cream pie!
A Shotgun-Style Slice of Americana with a Damn Good Burger. If you’re looking for a place that feels like stepping back into better times, Onion’s in Borger, TX, delivers on the atmosphere. Old-school shotgun diner vibes? Check. Walls decked out with antiques, small-town nostalgia, and real-deal Americana? Double check. This place isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a history lesson with a side of fries. They’ve got two seating areas—the classic shotgun-style diner section and a bigger, more intimate space that still keeps that nostalgic charm. As an antique collector, I found myself wandering around, just soaking it all in. It’s got character, and that’s something you don’t find in every diner anymore. Now, let’s talk food. The Carcol Burger? Legit. Juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you bite into a good burger. The chili cheese dog? Meh. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by some legendary hot dogs in my time, but this one didn’t hit that level. The fries? Homemade and seasoned to perfection. Not the frozen, out-of-a-bag kind—real-deal, crispy, golden perfection. Service was on point, too. The staff was kind, attentive, and respectful, and my food came out fast. No long waits, no attitude, just good, small-town hospitality. Final Verdict? I travel the USA for work and have tried a lot of places. Some spots stick with you, some don’t. But this one? Pinned to my favorites for the Texas Panhandle. Between the killer atmosphere, friendly service, and that burger-and-fries combo done right, I’ll definitely be back. #AmericanaEats #BurgersDoneRight #HomemadeFriesFTW #DinerNostalgia #SmallTownCharm #PinnedForAReason
Great food and prices for everything from their burgers to frito pies. I had a triple onion burger with green chili, fries, and coconut cream pie. It's definitely worth driving to Borger for Onions.
Had lunch with my son here I was impressed on how they set up the restaurant very nice old school vibe . The food was great and the prices wasn't too bad better than chain restaurants. Definitely going back I like to see places like this thriving in borger hopefully more will open and this little town will grow once again
Great atmosphere and great food. The charcoal cheeseburger was delicious. They are great for large groups… lots of seating. We were able to eat with our whole wildfire Strike Team (16 people) on our last day in Borger.
Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve had! Good old fashioned burger with grilled to perfection onions. Chili on the frito pie was very good. Nice flavor. Next time I’m back in town. Will be my go to burger spot!!!!
Swiss mushroom burger is amazing! Melting cheese plus awesome meat and crispy buns equal to perfect burger! Furthermore, it’s so big that you will be totally full after finishing it. Philly steak sandwich is so great as well. We just can’t help keeping eating it. Every serving comes with chips or fries.
Best cheeseburger I’ve had in a long time in an eatery with tons of charm and character. The walls are decorated with Americana memorabilia— Route 66 signs, letter jackets, old photos, etc. The blue-red tiled floors are distinctive and the red-cushioned and wood booths are cozy and comfortable. Service is fast and friendly. The burger was tender and came loaded with crispy lettuce, pickle, tomato and thin shreds of flavorful onions. I hate to say anything negative about such a wonderful restaurant, but the only thing keeping me from giving the place five stars was the fries. They are like the kind you get at Five Guys — not crispy enough for me. But Onion’s is definitely worth trying, and I’ll be back when I visit Borger again.
