See All ReviewsThe Paulinskill Valley trail is a 27 mile long multiuse trail that follows the former right of way of the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railroad. The railroad was formed in the early 1880s to connect the Delaware River at Columbia to Jersey City, New Jersey. Today however the trail only extends a short distance east from this trailhead past Warbasse Junction. The parking area was formerly the site of the Warbasse Station, and just to the west one of the old railroad bridges still remains. The parking area is large and there is a single portable toilet here. The only thing lacking along this stretch of the trail are any form of bench to sit on. The trail does appear to be undergoing rehabilitation in the summer of 2025 with vegetation being cleared from the sides and sand being applied to the trail surface. The trail itself is wide and flat. The surface is cinders, stone, or dirt. It is not paved. The trail is great for hiking, biking, dog walking, or jogging. However, do take care while using this trail. On a late September afternoon we saw two black bears cross the trail just west of this location.
