Used to go here quite a bit with friends when it first opened but those friends moved away so it had been a while. Made a reservation and half the tables in the front, by the bar, were empty. Not sure if anyone was in the back room. We saw employees walking back and forth and could not tell who was who. Bartender was also our waiter. Ordered scallops and was told they didn't have any. Our menu was a printed piece of paper that was dirty and well used. My wife wanted steak as their website showed steak. The menu we were handed did not have any steak option. I ordered a cocktail and my wife a beer. Our meal was okay. 3 stars. It wasn't bad but there was nothing that I would say was great. My wife had a second beer and we ordered a to go for our son at home. We got our hand written bill with a calculator ribbon of numbers attached. it showed $115.54 after tax, then $20 more for $135.54. I put $136 in the bill holder and we were getting ready to leave. I thought the $20 was some automatic tip as it was after tax. Then I had to really try to decipher what was what on the bill and we finally concluded that the $20 extra was for my one drink and her 2 beers. I then left $25 as the tip. The billing is confusing, the menu is not sanitary and we dropped $160 for a mediocre dinner. Again, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything to brag about either, I had haddock and my wife had veal and we took home an order of fettuccini alfredo that my son also said was rather bland.

Felt it necessary to a write review for this place as a warning. Seems as if they feel it is okay to charge more than the menu price. Last night when the bill came i saw that my veal marsala was $4 more than the menu price . When i questioned this i was told that it stated somewhere (?) on the menu that prices were subject to market pricing All well and good. But this was not just a notation for this dish, as sometimes i have seen elsewhere, but for the WHOLE MENU i guess. It’s not the $4, but the principle. I told the server that i thought this was not a fair policy to have just have a footnote on the menu and not make the customer aware at the time of ordering of the increased price. Having said that i just wanted to pay the bill and leave. But she did not want to let it go. She asked if i enjoyed my meal, which i did, so what’s $4 then, she said i should have order chicken, which by the way was their chicken parm special night which normally the place is packed, but not this night. Guess too many customers had bad experiences with her and never returned. She also remarked that at my age i should be enjoying life and not worried about things like this. What??? Who says that to a customer. Its a shame that this family business which serves excellent food has someone working there that is so combative. In reading past reviews i see i am not the only one who felt it necessary to call her out. Don’t know why she hasn’t. been fired by now. Only thing i can think of is that she is a relative of the owner. BTW she said she said she spoke to the owner about my concerns about the pricing on the menu and he said “to never come back.” No worries on that one. Bottom line BEWARE !!!!

Admittedly, I have been visiting this gem of an establishment since it opened a few decades ago. Typically, my husband and I would come for Valentine's Day every year when we lived in the Valley, but it had been some years since our last visit. Quite a few years, honestly. This time, my sister and her husband (who'd never been) joined my husband and I for Valentine's Day. It was much to my delight to see the very same servers from way back -along with the owner's/chef's beautiful wife! Although it was incredibly busy for Valentine's Day, and we expect there to be a limited menu, we all had something we enjoyed and the service was fantastic. Although true, I had been dining here for many years, I somehow never had the ravs until this last visit. I can't stop thinking of them honestly. I usually order chicken of some sort or pasta with three sauces. The meat ravioli in red sauce is second only to the Ravioli I had at Il Bargello in Florence, Italy last March. THAT good! The capaletti is fantastic also-be it in soup or as an entree with sauce. Perfectly al dente pasta stuffed with flavorful meat- how can one go wrong? I felt somewhat guilty for knowing this place so well and not having written a review of Pietro's years ago, but having gone back years after not visiting -and absolutely nothing changed, says a LOT for a restaurant in this area. Pietro's is second to none as far as Authentic Italian food in the Valley/surrounding area is concerned. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for local, good food at a fair price with generous portions and friendly service. Thank you, Pietro's for many years of good food and fantastic memories!
