After hours of research as to where to go for some out of this world italian food, we drove the distance from Plymouth, MA on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Navigating holiday traffic would be worth it in the end. Oh how wrong I was. Should have just gone to the North End. After over an hours drive, we arrived to find a jam packed parking lot. Good sign that I picked the right place. When I pulled the door open, the sounds of clinking utensils and satisfied voices entered my ears and the smell of my Nanna's kitchen entered my nose. In that moment, I was happy as could be. It all went down hill from here. I saw an older woman at the bar and waited for eye contact. Once acknowledged, I asked if she had a paper menu that I could bring out to my handi capped friend. "Ohhh, nooo, we don't". I then asked if I could take one of their table menus out and bring it right back. By the concerned look on her face, I quickly realized their menus must be very valuable and offered to leave a hundred dollar bill for security purposes. "Can't you take a picture of it?" she asked. "I cant" I answered. Then she replied, "Oh, are you ordering to-go? We're not doing to go orders now. If you looked in the next room, you'd understand why." I answered, "Yeah, I saw the parking lot. Well......this is really terrible, we just drove a really long way to get here....." I was met with a "I could give 2 shits" stare. I then added, " I suggest you add that to your online profile so no one else wastes their time coming here". I've worked in the restaurant business all my life and I'd never turn away business, especially hundreds of dollars of business, but recognized this woman wasn't bending. So I left. I'm glad this place is doing so well in such a difficult industry and market, but this interaction saddened me as it highlighted a growing trend, a lack of decency and a rigidity in human on human interactions. If someone is willing to leave 100 $ bill security so they can take a menu out to a handicapped person, take the money and pray they drive away with it. You would have the better end of that deal! Relax, be kind to people, it feels better. And update your online information to accurately reflect your policies and or rules so people don't waste their time and money going to your place.
I went in for the first time tonight, food was absolutely fantastic and service was absolutely wonderful. The chef was super kind, and came out and introduced himself as well. Dawn & Bella were super kind! Will be back.
Googled Italian restaurant on our way back from Providence. Valentine's day no reservation, they welcomed us and found us a seat Best Italian we have ever had. Not fancy, just fabulous. Causal and prices are very reasonable. Staff are wonderful and chief came out to say Ciao. 10 out of 10. Going back soon.
