My one day off, I decide to go to prairie kitchen after like 10 years of not eating there. I found a fat piece of hair on my hand. I told the waitress and I figured I’d get a new plate but nope, she just asked if I wanted a new ham which was what the hair was on. I figured after finding dirty hair that probably hasn’t been washed in ages I’d get a new plate after the contamination, Didn’t even get a discount on my ticket for the hair.
We ate at Prairie Kitchen in February 2026. The parking lot was full, with one truck parked in the grass out front. Every table was occupied. I had chicken fried steak, maybe the best I have ever eaten. The “steak” was tender but not like ground beef found in some chicken fried steak. The waitress was kind and efficient checking on us making sure we were cared for. Later she brought a brownie in a hot skillet. It was covered with vanilla ice cream, whip cream and hot fudge. The food quality was very high. We were from out-of-town and noticed that the interaction between customers and wait staff was familiar.
