Where do I start, first of all the service was OUT of this world. I didn’t know what I wanted and the sweet gentleman at the window talked me through everything. Second the baked beans to die for, the smoked Mac n cheese yep it was gone you can taste the smoke. And third the rib tips MOUTH watering. I will 100% be a repeat customer 100/10 recommend.
We had delicious chopped chicken sandwiches and ribs with a nice cup of baked beans, almost a cinnamon flavor, a d some scrumptuous greens. Great place, good price, worth the wait!
Ordered a 1/2 pan for Tyson v Paul. Delicious
If you want that fresh off the fire BBQ flavor, this is your place. I’m talking Church revival, Sunday picnic type food. Where others failed PTs hit the spot. Fresh & hot! It’s no wonder they've been around as long they have.
This is a small bbq joint with no inside seating. So just take your order to the car, that smells is gonna get to ya'... don't openthat plate, it won't make it home! Usually, the ribs and tips are really tender, and the meat just comes off the bone. Well, due to the holiday orders, maybe they marinated or cooked the meats a litter faster than usual. The meat wasn't quite as tender as usual. My elderly family or the children couldn't really chew it. Kinda tough to me, so we put it on low in the oven with some broth. It's not the same, but softer. As for the rib tips, well, I don't like it when they double cut the tips! That happens around the busy times, maybe so they can have enough for more orders. There is no price difference! This had to just be an off time for them cause I plan to go back!🤤
I moved outta state a few years ago, but anytime I go back to Decatur, PT's is on my radar. Always consistent with good portions at a good price point. Best in Class, for Decatur.
One thing we love to do as southerners is try East and west BBQ. This restaurant is a local BBQ spot located near the downtown area of Decatur, IL. This establishment offers a wide range of BBQ to choose from. On a Sunday after 1 p.m we decided to have the pulled beef sandwich, and beef ribs. Unfortunately, Beef wasn't available so we were accommodated with a replacement of pull pork and ribs. The house sauce on the Que was tasty. Our kids really enjoyed it as well. We plan to come back to try out the beef and sweets! We recommend visiting this establishment when its the busiest. Which we belive would be a Saturday afternoon? Overall this was a great place to exprience. It's local owned and operated! As well as Black Owned*
Food is good for how cheap it is, but they are always out of sides and deserts. Not the best bbq in Decatur by a long shot, but likely the best bbq bang for your buck! No sauce options, nowhere to eat at, no wet wipes, no real customer service. Just quick cheap meat.
