**"My husband and I stopped by this Black-owned restaurant today around 1:15 PM to grab a meal. As longtime residents of Maywood—combined, we’ve lived here 54 years—we’ve visited Pumpkins many times before and have always received great customer service. Unfortunately, today’s experience was different. The older woman at the register was short and unpleasant, making us feel unwelcome, as if we were bothering her by taking a moment to decide on our order from the pre-cooked options. It’s disappointing because the food is consistently good, but experiences like this are why some minority-owned businesses struggle to retain loyal customers. I want to support local businesses, but it’s hard to justify spending money where I’m not treated with basic respect. Whoever was at the register today—whether an employee or owner—brought bad energy to an otherwise good spot. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers. The food is great, but the service today left a lot to be desired."**
