Place ran out of Aguacate relleno and Tostones rellenos. Beans came out 45min later. The Mofongo was very bland. The decor was cute inside; place was cold music was too loud where we sat down. Food looked good but it wasnt. Skirt steak was good not the mofongo.
Me and my fiancé had dinner here tonight and let me tell you… the food was absolutely amazing!!! I had the mofongo with pork chunks and my fiancé had the pernil with arroz and habichuelas. We have lived in NYC our whole lives and tried several mofongos but this was absolutely one of the best. The appetizers were fresh and we could tell they were made in house. Please Oceanside don’t sleep on this authentic Puerto Rican experience. P.S. the music and service was also wonderful.
I was all hype up to try this place… We walked in and they sat us right away , 3 of US, But the table was dirty. I told myself “give it a chance “ 20 minutes passed And finally the waitress came ( I felt really bad for her ) it was busy. But that did not help that the owner instead of helping her and the establishment he was drinking away. She took the drink and food order. Plastic cups for alcohol drinks ( small cups) the bartender needs to work on the drinks! Food came out 40 minutes later My food came out cold ( mofongo~pollo al ajillo) see pic. Bacalaito and alcapuria was ok! The other order did not come out. The Owner try to apologize but i felt he got offended when I expressed my opinion, he apologized and stated that it will be on the house and walked away. We waited to see the waitress to give her a tip ~ she was trying really hard and kept apologizing for the wait! When we decided to leave we found the owner by the bar drinking and again trying to say he was really sorry but kept drinking. Buddy/ Owner this tip is for you: Stop the drinking and focus on the establishment that you have and staff , training is needed big time! We left, I will NOT be going there ever! You can go to any other cuchifrito and get better food and service!
