Master Chef Nabor Diaz Prado (previously head chef at Hugo’s in Studio City and the genius behind Hugo’s Tacos in Studio City and Glendale) has opened this lovely old-school Mexican restaurant in Northridge and it does not disappoint. Almost hidden in a nondescript strip mall (with plenty of parking), once inside you’ll find a welcoming collection of comfy booths, tables and a beautiful bar. Do not be afraid to try anything on the menu, all the dishes here are delicious. Our group of four included one vegetarian who was happily taken care of, and for the rest of us the carnitas, asada and chicken enchiladas were all superb. Great margaritas as well. Highly recommended!
Cozy family run and operated Mexican food specialty. Food is on French and made to order, no skimping on the extras amazing and fantastic corn tortillas just really add to the experience. The service was impeccable
I have never felt so blatantly ignored and disrespected in a restaurant. My family and I, all Hispanic, waited a long time just to be seated, and when a table became available, staff didn’t clean it. Instead, they tried to place us at a disabled-access table while we continued waiting. Meanwhile, multiple white groups who arrived after us were seated closer to the front, and staff immediately cleaned tables for them rather than offering them the disabled table like they did to us. Once seated, we were still left waiting far too long to be attended to. Our chips and salsa arrived almost at the same time as our entrees, and when we asked for a few limes, they were forgotten entirely. At the same time, the white groups around us were greeted warmly, served promptly, and received everything without issue. The contrast in treatment was repeated, obvious, and uncomfortable. This is a Hispanic-owned restaurant, yet the staff showed clear favoritism based on race. To be honest, the food was just alright—nothing to brag about—so the poor and unequal service made the experience even more disappointing. Slow service happens, but consistently prioritizing others while overlooking us is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this place.
