Wow the food is incredible! Fig and prosciutto pizza was great but the spicy rotisserie chicken was the best chicken I've ever had! The lady at the front of house had great recommendations and was very friendly.
What a great time! I was meeting some friends in Carbondale for a late lunch on a Saturday in February. Little did I know how much I would enjoy the place. Initially ordering from the counter feels just right for the Strip. Staff was friendly and incredibly efficient. I also appreciated the simple menu pricing. If it says $5 for a half rotisserie chicken, you can walk in with $5 and walk out with half a chicken. I ordered their equivalent of a "supreme" pizza. From the time I ordered to when they brought the pizza out felt incredibly fast! Their oven must be blazing. Yet, it was cooked just as I love a brick oven cooked pizza. I was nursing one of those 28 beer 8 Fireball shot nights the afternoon I went, but my buddies had their in house beer and said it was great. According to them, they also grow a bunch of their own herbs and tomatoes during the season. Just gotta love that! 5/5 would (and will) go again. (In no way am I endorsing binge drinking)
The pizza was great, the chicken was phenomenal oh my lord, $5 is crazy for a half chicken. Everything was priced very reasonably, my total bill for two pizzas (each loaded with toppings), half chicken, and some roasted potatoes was under $50. Lately it seems like I'm spending $50+ anywhere I go, a lot of times for less food of lesser quality. Service was great too, the restaurant was a bit busy when I came in and I actually only saw two guys working (could've been more in the back), but they had our order ready in 15 minutes, everything was accurate and I gotta say again the food was so good. It's very clear to me why they're busy, this is an amazing local spot. Also really liked the vibe in there, lots of cool artwork to admire in and outside of the store. I'm a traveling man, and it makes me sad that I won't have Rips around all the time 😢 If I lived here permanently, this would be my go-to for pizza (and chicken) night, screw Domino's!
Rip's isn't playing with their ingredients or service. They are serious about making food that doesn't just stand out, but can stand up against just about anything in Carbondale. I tried the meatball panuozzo and I'm almost at a lost of words. You can tell it's made with real ingredients. You can taste the freshness and the love in the food. Rip's is well well worth the price they ask and you will not be disappointed.
Cute place with moderate prices. As for me, tastier than Newby's, Papa John's, Domino's chains. The crust was sourdough, it seemed, or at least it wasn't feeling heavy in the body afterwards. We got Margherita on one side (for me) and pepperoni on the other (for my husband). It was a tasty snack after some driving. They apparently geow tons of their own basil for sauces. You can see giant basil plants in front of the business along with sage. Very beautiful. Interior is decorated with various murals. They also have some beer on tap, but we haven't checked it yet.
Excellent food, it was very quiet when we went in but the place could easily accommodate for a lot of people. Murals located on the walls are amazing, no idea who the artist is but the pieces are good without demanding attention from the rest of the place. I could see reading a good book there.
If you’re looking for the freshest, cheap, and most delicious pizza experience you can get down in Carbondale; this is the place! The menu is simple and doesn’t take your attention away from what this place is good at. Pizza and rotisserie chicken. The pizzas are made fresh and by hand with the highest of ingredients. They even grow their own basil! The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I’d recommend the spicy option! My only complaint is that at night the white overhead lights are a bit harsh on the eyes, but that’s a minor deduction from an overall amazing experience.
OK, I legit love pizza so here is my honest first experience. First of all I tried something new, not bad at all but I'm a wimp with spice and that garlic on the Za had my lips hot. The crust just beautiful, ingredients everything quality. I am excited to try another pizza and the half chicken looks like you can't go wrong! Love to see local, will be back for the many other pizza combos I saw!
