Rita Mae's Kitchen was founded by the esteemed Rita Mae, who is now 83 years old. Her son Harry continues to manage it and her daughter Cathy is in cook there, while Rita May herself stays home. and makes crab cakes and other delights to send in.. The restaurant is in a tiny home in Morgan City. The servings are phenomenally huge. Fried catfish poor boy barely fit on the plate, and the shrimp and okra gumbo came in a bowl so large. I was extraordinarily surprised if it didn't hold almost a quart. They have red beans and rice for $8 on Monday and homemade goodies like sweet potato pie, bread pudding and peach or blackberry cobbler. The pork chops were the biggest I've ever seen. And they were delicious. Try out Rita May's if you want to find a sweet little hideaway with great food!
Fire food catfish was on point seafood gumbo was amazing! To top it off peach cobbler was delicious 😋 👌🏼
Crab burger was delicious. Best onion rings I have ever had. Sweet tea was fresh and not overly sweet. Great meal.
