I have been going here for years but had several instances of my oaxaqueños not being cooked all the way. I had not gone there for months but decided to give them a chance again today as my new spot is closed today. Half my order is not cooked all the way. It's not close enough to me to go back and but will not go there again.
Tamales are ok. Service lower than average. Prices reasonable, but they charge a fee if paid with a credit card without any warning!
I haven't been here in a while but had a taste for tamales to i got 6 pork with green salsa and they were dry no salsa and one piece of meat they used to be good they must have different people making them because I wasted my money
We usually get our tamales here because the masa is pretty flavorful for all its tamales. However I'm pretty disappointed with the red pork tamales. Although the masa is good, it's pork filling is terrible. They don't shred the meat, they just throw in big chunks of it in the sauce and that really makes for a very mediocre tamale. To me it's like not really caring enough to take the time for a very decent tamale. The rajas tamales are very good. I really wish that they would improve on the cooking method for those red pepper pork tamales. It would surely make them better. And they could make them more spicy, after all that's what we're known for.
First time trying Rosa’s Tamales #2 and they were pretty good! The masa has great flavor. The tamales are a bit on the smaller side, but understandable since they make large batches. I ordered a dozen and a half. Half green chicken, half red pork, and half cheese with jalapeño. The green chicken was my favorite, but all had good flavor. Perfect para quitar el antojo de tamales! También price seems great, not expensive.
This is one of the best if not thee best places to get authentic banana leaf wrapped tamales in the city of Chicago. Nothing fancy just big pots of delicious tamales. The cheese and jalapeño are my favorite!
Worst place to buy tamales at. I've been here twice already and the tamales are dry and have no meat. I had ordered 6 tamales pork with green salsa and got nothing of that. When I opened the tamales, all that was there was just maza. Very disappointed that I had $12 for just maza. Vendors that sell their tamales on the street honestly taste better than these tamales 100%.
We went to try the tamales because it seemed to be a popular location the green chicken tamales didn’t really have a spice or flavor to it and the chicken was overcooked. So the tamale was not to my expectations. Now if you don’t like spice then give it a try the price is decent for a dozen (12 ) tamales it’s 15 plus tax came out to 17 bucks Now we also got 2 pork , 2rajas 8 chicken. And we agreed and the bland size for flavor. But for home cook meals that’s why it’s a 3. People are friendly but I’m looking for more of an authentic spice in the tamales. Also slightly small in my opinion. Picture is a comparison to size slightly bigger than a debt card but still on the thin and small size
