See All ReviewsDropped in for dinner as this restaurant was within walking distance of my hotel. They were super busy with takeout orders but managed to seat and serve me in good order. This place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but the inside is clean and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the Chilly Chicken stir fry with a side of their fresh buttered naan bread. Excellent!
We were visiting Joshua Tree from Northern Virginia where we have an abundance of excellent Indian restaurants. The mashup of Indian + pizza was intriguing…and delicious. Medium spice was assertive but not incendiary. My Singaporean wife KNOWS Indian and she was impressed. We ordered for takeout twice from our Air B&B. We saw the place busy and bustling. It looked cozy, warm, and welcoming, but we were taking food back to others. An unexpected bright spot: on the second time, we asked for a little bit of black pepper, and the cashier went to the back and brought us a hearty helping of black pepper in a little sauce container. Very nice! Both times, we ordered Indian dishes to go along with the pizzas. Ditto. Excellent! My son cannot handle spice at all, so we ordered a cheese pizza and it was perfect for him. A very good cheese pizza, indeed. Let’s see, what’s left? We observed the timings provided via the DoorDash app, and when we arrived both times, things were ready in line with those timings. We re-warmed the pizza on the second day, and the kitchen filled with a wonderful aroma of Indian flavors. A note to Sam: keep doing what you’re doing.
After a certain point, it doesn’t matter how good the food is (and the food is delicious). The gentleman in the turban was attentive and prompt, and was clearly overwhelmed. He did the best job he could. His service partner was nowhere to be seen most of the night. I arrived at 6:25, had to flag my waiter down to order at 6:36, and waited until 7:35 for my one pizza to arrive. I had to ask multiple times for water, I had to get up and walk to the front to order a drink for my partner, and I had to ask for the check. I would return if I learned they hired more staff. The food was very good. It’s a shame the experience was spoiled by the less than exemplary service.
