a month agoStopped in the way to get RV parts and had a very tasty breakfast. French toast was delicious with a hint of cinnamon. Pancakes very good. Perfect way to start your day. We’re traveling thur on our way to Maine. Thank you Karan

a month agoSam's Kitchen is reminiscent of a large diner. It offers booths and table seating. I've enjoyed lunch and breakfast here. The portions are ample and the food is delicious. It offers a family friendly dining environment. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

a month agoLove this spot and became one of the only places I’d eat out at when first moved to Cville. Recently visited for the first time in while and service was none less than satisfactory. Our waitress did express to us that she had worked 6 days straight from open to close nearly and was extremely exhausted as we had casual conversation this her. This is concerning but she still exceeded expectations. I hope you they can get the staff needed to maintain a work-life balance for their current staff. Now that I think of it, I’d always see the same faces which has its pros because of familiarity but people get burned out. I think this lady was. Still great food, great service, & great prices!

2 months agoI was craving breakfast yesterday morning and decided to give Sam’s another try. I’d visited for lunch a few years ago and the chicken parm was decent. I should’ve turned around and left immediately when I walked in and saw there was only one other customer. But I was there, and I was hungry. I’ll agree it does have an old rundown diner with a down home minus the manners feel. The waitress that greeted me was prompt but unwelcoming. I gave her a few unrequited thank you’s when I ordered, and when I received my food. I should have read the menu better. I assumed the ham and cheese omelette I ordered would have come with potatoes or hash browns but I guess that would be an add on. Instead it came with really dry toast. Omelette was edible is the best I can say about it. The real kicker for me was the discussion the two loud waitresses were having while I was eating. Nothing like eating an omelette while listening to two hens talking about peeing on themselves. Lesson learned, I won’t be back.

Edited 5 months agoThis is a great quiet place to have breakfast/lunch/dinner the food choices are on point as well as the customer service. My grandkids always ask to go eat breakfast.

7 months agoA hidden gem. Maybe 25 tables available for seating. Breakfast served all day. We ordered the two top specials for the day and a coffee, after taxes was $28.59. Food was fine, eggs were rich farm flavors. No complaints.

9 months agoWe stopped in at Sam’s Kitchen after visiting UVA, and it was such a pleasant surprise! The place has that classic, welcoming diner vibe that makes you feel right at home. We both ordered grilled cheese and fries with brown gravy on the side, and everything was cooked to perfection and crispy fries, gooey cheese, with deliciously rich gravy. The service was friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made it the perfect spot to relax after a long day. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Charlottesville with great comfort food and a warm, local feel!

a year agoVisited Sam's Kitchen for the first time, and it definitely has that old-school diner vibe I love as a New Jersey native. I tried the cheeseburger omelette, which wasn't bad but needed a good amount of salt and pepper (maybe they forgot or left it out on purpose). I also got a side of biscuits with sausage gravy. The biscuit wasn’t anything special—wish it had been flakier—but the sausage gravy was tasty and really helped bring it together. My partner ordered the breakfast sampler with eggs, bacon, pancakes, and home fries. The sausage had a nice kick to it, and the pancakes were a bit fluffy but a little hard on the outside. The real star of the plate was the home fries, which were perfectly seasoned with peppers and onions—definitely a must-order! Service was a bit slow, especially since the place wasn’t packed, but overall, it’s a decent spot for breakfast. The prices are really cheap, and it’s conveniently close to where I live, so I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.
