See All ReviewsMy family has been coming to this restaurant for YEARS, but today’s experience with our server Iris was unacceptable from the moment we walked in. As we entered, I was guiding two toddlers to the table. Before we even sat down, Iris threw the menus onto the table and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. She clearly saw I had two 1-year-olds with me, yet she only brought one high chair. My mom tried to excuse her behavior, saying, “She’s always like that,” but that doesn’t justify the attitude. I finally got one toddler seated and had my son grab the other chair. My husband was just walking in, and Iris asked again what we wanted to drink. I told her we didn’t know yet because he had literally just sat down. Not even a minute later, she asked a third time, and we didn’t even have chips or salsa on the table yet. No “How are you?” No greeting — just rushing us like she wanted us out. I was already irritated, but I stayed calm because we were there to enjoy time with my mom. When the meal was over, my mom asked for the bill, and Iris told her we had to pay at the front. My mom whispered to me to double-check it because they’ve overcharged her before. Sure enough, when I looked, there was a $22.54 automatic tip already added — 20% — with zero communication from Iris. The explanations made no sense: • She said two toddlers count as one adult • Then said my 10 year-old is “considered an adult” which I understand • Which STILL equals 5 people, not 6 • And nowhere does the posted policy mention 20% — it says 15% for groups of 8 When I asked for a manager, she said there wasn’t one. When I asked for the owner’s information, she refused to provide it. She also claimed the menu and advertisement were “wrong” because they “just changed it.” That the owners know and haven’t bothered to change it, aside of that I asked her why couldn’t she communicate to us and she mentioned she dint have time to explain because she had bigger things to worry about. I explained that this wasn’t about the money — we always tip well and respect the food service industry. It’s about communication, honesty, and transparency. Adding gratuity without telling the customer is sneaky, and the attitude from the beginning made the entire experience uncomfortable. What upset me most is knowing many customers — especially in our own Latin community — won’t question the bill out of fear or not wanting conflict. But today, they tried it with the wrong person, especially with my mom who has supported them for years. Extremely disappointing experience, and I hope management/ownership takes this seriously.
Food is good here, one of the best Salvi restaurants in town. And prices are reasonable. Waitress are very nice.
Not the best Mexican food. Yucca wasn't that great either, and the pupusas were ok. I got the cheese and bean with cheese which were ok. But my hubby did not like the revueltas. May have been an off day for a Saturday afternoon this past weekend. As my family mentions it's usually good. The waitress was great though.
