See All ReviewsDr. Richard Schachter is awesome and truly cares about getting your wounds healed. He goes above and beyond, trying every possible option while others may immediately consider amputation. His dedication, compassion, and commitment to his patients are exceptional. He takes time to listen, explains things thoroughly, and makes patients feel like more than just a number. You can tell he genuinely cares about every patient and never gives up on finding solutions.
He rebuilt my feet after 40 years of RA. I was heading for a wheelchair. 6 years later, I’m still dancing. He is my hero.
Dr. Richard S was nice and friendly (though the RideAid pharmacist across the road finally suggested a more effective remedy for my long-suffering foot). His secretary (at the Highland Park In Step Podiatry) was extremely rude. When I took the appointment over phone, I gave her all my health insurance details, but when I arrived, she took a look at my United health card (provided by Rutgers University for all research fellows) and sneered and said "at least this is better than having no health insurance". I had made the appointment by carefully checking the in-network providers, but she seemed to doubt me and told me to visit another doctor who is less specialized and will charge less. I had to call my insurance provider in front of her and make him speak to her directly in order to convince her that I was indeed covered. Finally, when my bill came, she made some mistake and charged my health provider twice (though I only went once and paid the co-pay amount only once). Not only racist and insensitive, but also a highly incompetent woman! Would not recommend, unless perhaps he gets a different secretary.
