See All ReviewsLet me start by saying that we found this place when it first opened years ago, and have been eating here ever since. That being said, with both the first and second owners, the food remained very good. After the third and current owner took over, the quality was bad. We actually stopped going here for the past year. We finally decided to give it another try. We went on a Wednesday for lunch. They only had one cook, but I will say she was doing a very good job at both cooking and getting the food out. However, it seems the new owner is not sticking with what made this place really great. They had the best Po Boys in the area, partly because they used authentic Louisiana French bread for the bun. They are now using what seems to be plain French bread from Walmart. The bread is too thick and not even close to being correct for a po boy. They are also not putting as many shrimp on the po boy as previously. The grouper, certainly didn't taste like grouper. I've had about ever variety of grouper, and none tasted like this. It was more like amberjack than grouper. The good is that they now have a cook that actually knows how to cook seafood. The bad is that apparently the new owner is trying to save a little money by substituting inferior items. If we return in the future, I will not waste my money on either the grouper or the Po Boys.
It was my first time visiting Shannon‘s. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and was asked if It was my first visit. I told the lady yes, and she let me know how things were done. The Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. The portions are generous ..this is a hidden gem.. Both of the ladies that were there , were friendly and very helpful with whatever we needed.. I live in Pace and I will be back. My sister and brother-in-law live in Loxley and they will be back . It may seem a little far for some, but it would be worth your while to try this place…
The food and service here are fabulous. We had a fried shrimp dinner and a combination fried shrimp and oyster dinner and both were absolutely delicious. This will be my go to over all the seafood restaurants around. This gets a 6 out of 5 star review for the food, service and atmosphere. We had Donna as our server but Denise can help you just as good!!! Try it, you won't regret it!!!!
