2 years agoMy experience was nothing special. I went on a Sunday evening. It's more of a Bar place. Not a restaurant. I was caught off guard once I stepped in. There was mens playing pool. I couldn't tell who was an employee or not. After awkwardly standing there at the bar counter for a few minutes, someone finally approaches and serviced me. I ordered something for $14 to take out. Handed her a $20 bill. She just said thank you, walked off and never returned with my change. I guess she kept the $6 for tip money (I was confused). I just let it go and walked out. Most likely won't go back, because of the atmosphere. Food was ok. I definitely could have made the stirfry myself. I just love the Ethiopian sour bread that's available elsewhere. I'm ok, I don't hate the place, just not my kind of place.

2 years agoThe food is sooo delicious and just the right amount of spice and flavor. Daytime is nice for getting ethiopian/eritrean food and night time for hooka/music and drinks :)

2 years agoThe food at this restaurant is outstanding! It’s a wonderful atmosphere and they really care about giving you a cultural experience from the ambiance/music to the traditional coffee ceremony. The employees are so kind and offered great recommendations. I highly recommend shawley if you enjoy traditional Eritrean/Ethiopian food or if you’re looking for delicious vegetarian/vegan options

3 years agoShady bar. Be aware of your bill, they have a tendency of adding things that you never ordered to rack up your bill. The trashy so called owner is out of control needs some house training.
