I’ve been to a lot of Asian restaurants in the DC area, but Shiney’s Sweets & Restaurant on Markham Street is on a completely different level. Its Kabobs are seasoned beautifully, with the perfect blend of spices that hit every note. The meat is incredibly tender, the flavors are authentic, and the portions are more than generous. In additional, sweets are very authentic and rich in taste. Shiney keep on Shining!
Need more lights and cleaning. Try to brightness in shop. Any customer just in looks like a darkness. Otherwise everything is fine 🙂
The food was alright but the workers attitude is soo high like I wanted to ask the person at the front something and he’s just on the his phone (it wasn’t even a call for placing an order it was it personal phone and just chatting) while the other one is just looking around as if he doesn’t see me. Plus when I asked for extra sauce he said he put in 2 already which was for 2 samosa I had ordered I asked bro 3-4 times for extra sauce and he malt saying the same thing there’s 2 in already like I see the 2 sauce that’s why I’m asking for more buddy and after my fourth time of asking he gave me one more with such an attitude. Made me sooo mad like just for a little thing he’s acting up this much crazy.
I have always ordered sweets from them for every occasion. They are always very friendly and go above and beyond to help me in every way. I drive over an hour to purchase from them. There sweets are the best in the area.
I hadn’t had food from here in years, since my dad used to bring home ras malai from here (which was a fav of mine). When in the area recently, I stopped in for lunch, not knowing that they actually offered a buffet!! I was happy to see this, as they had so many items on it that looked great: • Samosas • Pakora • Rice • Chicken Tikka • Saag with beef • Chicken curry • Aloo Muttar • Chana masala • Gulab jamen • And so much more! The pastry dough used to make the samosa was spot on and reminded me of the streets of Pakistan! The chick pea flour used in the pakora was flavored perfectly, though I wish it had a tad more spice to it. The other items I tried were great! Plus they made me a roti to eat it with. All the food and service were just what I needed to scratch the itch I’ve had for this food for some time now. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re seeking authentic Pakistani food!
This place is a gem of a restaurant!! I’ve been to this area before but never stopped until today.. Their food is sooo plentiful and sooo flavorful and yummy! The staff is extremely nice and I will definitely be back every chance I get. Thanks guys
I stopped by for grabbing a quick snack-vegetable pakora and vegetable samosa. Both tasted delicious. Prices were cheap and the portions were large. They had a variety of sweets available too. I wish the store could improve on its interiors and cleanliness. I want to revisit but their level of hygiene puts doubts in my mind. :(
Update: If you're visiting for the buffet call ahead to ask what they're serving for it is not the same everyday. I totally loved this place. We ordered papdi chaat and they had a small buffet that was amazing. The buffet is 10.99 per person. We also tried some of their sweets and they tasted good and fresh. Their naan is heavenly. The staff were welcoming. Glad to have chosen this place for our weekend dinner.
