3 months agoMy son and I had lunch here. The food was terrific. She buys burger fresh every day, and patty’s it herself and it shows in the appearance and taste. It was easily the tastiest, juiciest burger I’ve had in a very long time. The seasoning on the burger was delicious and the fries were terrific partly because of the seasoning she uses on them (different from the burger seasoning). I can’t wait to return and try some of her homemade pies and cakes, sold by the slice or you can buy a whole one if you can give a two day notice. Treat yourself to a meal at Shorty’s Kitchen.

3 months agoThe best burger I have had in a long time. Hand made patties. Meat brought in fresh daily. If the price was doubled it would still be worth it.

11 months agoATTENTION: Susan Vierck...... To the misguided and clueless Susan Vierck. Maybe you should learn basic math skills before you accuse someone of overcharging you. Here is a copy of your bill, and Shorty's menu is very clear on pricing, and credit card fees are post at the counter. Explained: Your meal prices, fee for upgraded to cheese fries ($2.00 not $7.00), and desserts @ $7.00. Pretty simple if you use the brain god gave you huh?? Nobody overcharged you!! At least you had the taste buds to not complain about the food. You should retract your review, admit you're wrong, apologize for being a Karen and believing you're entitled. Shorty's is an excellent place to dine with fantastic home made dinners and desserts, it's people like you that don't deserve her kindness, and willingness to work hard to make people comfortably happy.

11 months agoGreat little place to stop for a bite to eat. The owner herself is there to fix everything up and serve you. She’s very personable and all of the food is fresh and homemade. Absolutely the best hamburger buns (also homemade). I brought home cheesecake for my father and he loved it as well. Can’t wait to comeback to try other options and take home some take and bake meals.

a year agoLittle hole-in-the-wall restaurant with great food. I tried the Meatloaf with mac-n-cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy for the sides. Also, the strawberry chicken salad sandwich with pasta salad and everything was great. A+ would definitely go back! 😋

4 years agoAll I can say is WOW! My husband and I were completely blown away by Shortys.... the food is TO DIE FOR! We ordered the Gyros and the sloppy Joe and both were heavenly. As we were finishing up- the owner (Shorty) was just pulling pie out of the oven- so of course we had to get a slice of each the cherry and apple. The cherry was quite good but the apple was phenomenal. We travel the country always looking for good food and Shortys was by far the best we've had in Illinois. If you're looking for a place to go for great food... this is it.

4 years agoThis place was awesome! I had the Jacked Up Burger and it was delicious and HUGE! The owner, Shorty, was so kind and you can tell she puts a lot of care into her restaurant. This was a really pleasant surprise to find on the drive home. 10/10 would recommend!
