See All ReviewsWhen I travel I make it a point to hit local spots especially when they're Black Owned. I found this gem after stopping at another place but luckily they were closed. Anytime you see a local spot with a line, you know you might've found something. The line moved pretty quickly as the orders got filled. I got the $5 Bowl with Brisket, Collars and Mac & Cheese. It was really good. I was hungry and it was right on time. I really liked the Sweet Potato Pie and my son crushed his Catfish too. Outside of the food, they are great people too! I would highly recommend this place and will be back when I'm in the area.
They have the best food in central Florida. The taste, quality, and preparation is by far the best I've seen. For $5 you can get four meals for the price of one at any other soul food spot.
Let me start by saying this is not our first visit but I failed to give Sister Soul food their props the first time and I could not miss out on giving then credit for delicious food this time. This visit was on Friday 12:30 lunch time. There was a line formed outside the door with about 5 people. However our total time for wait, service and food in hand was about 15 minutes. There is a large printed board menu outside as well as a daily specials menu taped onto the window. The restaurant is clean, quaint, relaxed soulful vibe. The staff is friendly, patient, and well versed with the menu and offered several options. We chose several $5 lunch bowls. They did NOT disappoint!!! I had to do my happy dance. We ordered the wings with collard greens and mac and cheese, the fried chicken tenders with collard greens and Mac and cheese and the smothered turkey with candied yams and a side of potato salad. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The collard greens had a slight hint of vinegar, perfect seasoning and perhaps a pinch of sugar. The mac and cheese had great texture and cheesy creaminess with that slight cheese pull. I loved it both times! My chicken tender had crispy light breading and the 2 tenders were a good serving size. The same for the chicken wings. The yams were a sweet and firm. I liked the presentation of the potato salad, it had slice of egg on top, I personally prefer less mayo but still delicious flavor. The turkey was a little dry but again very flavorful. I reheated leftovers and it was just as good as lunch time. 😊 I will be back!
