I grew up in the south and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was! I had the BBQ ribs and the greens, if I closed my eyes I would swear I was in South Carolina once again! The head chef (Rock) had the southern manners and pleasant attitude I miss from the south (even though he’s from Ohio) So glad I chose So Southern to have my lunch!
So Southern at Beachwood Mall. So right on the drum sticks. The seasoning and coating was so well balanced.the mac and cheese had enough cheese on the tender pasta. I had a taste of greens and will come come back for a full serving. The peach cobbler was very good. The best part of the experience was the customer service provided by Bethany. Thank You.
My friend recommended this place because I loooooove me some soul food baby. However, I was majorly disappointed. Keeping in mind the food is pre-prepared similar to a QSR, I had to keep my expectations in check. But at the very least it could have been made from scratch. The mac and cheese is not made from scratch like I was expecting (I know stouffers when I taste it) and the chicken grease was not fresh (you can tell by taste and black specks on the chicken). The quality of the food could just be better. I’m rooting for this place because its one of two black food spots in the mall.
