During my stay at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, I had the pleasure of dining at the Surf Deck Grille, a casual beachfront restaurant offering both lunch and dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed, with tables situated right over the beach, providing stunning ocean views. The menu catered to a variety of tastes, featuring sophisticated options like salmon, as well as kid-friendly fare such as hot dogs. I opted for the local greens salad topped with salmon, while my companion chose a hot dog accompanied by mac & cheese. We also shared a side of green beans. Each dish was flavorful and satisfying, and my Manhattan cocktail was expertly crafted. Service was prompt and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and were seated immediately without reservations. Please note that access to the Surf Deck Grille is limited exclusively to guests and members of the resort and club. In summary, the Surf Deck Grille offers a delightful beachfront dining experience with a diverse menu, attentive service, and breathtaking views, making it a must-visit for those staying at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.
Apparently you must have a hall pass (be a guest or member) to eat at this restaurant. Nowhere on the internet listing is this information conveyed. We weren't asked as we entered parking lot, walking into and through the building (even stopped and asked which way to restaurant) or when we were asked "how many". We were seated, served water, given menus and then asked for the hall pass. I don't care that we were turned away, just would have been nice to know this before we trekked across Jax to get there.
There really needs to be clear signage on site that states that you must be a member to eat at this restaurant. My niece and I stopped in on the way back home from an appointment in Jacksonville. There were no clear signs that stated we needed to be a member. Oh well, we found a nice restaurant on the water further down, “The Reef” in St. Augustine.
