See All ReviewsI recently visited Taqueria Jesus Maria Mexican restaurant in Brownsville while traveling from San Diego to Texas. Given the location's proximity to the border, I was thrilled to try what I hoped would be authentic Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant.I ordered a Carnitas Street Taco, eagerly anticipating a delicious, traditional meal. However, from the first bite, I was met with an overwhelming amount of grease. It was so bad that I had to spit out my food. I tried to soak up the excess grease with napkins, but it was impossible to salvage. There must have been at least an ounce or more of grease inside the STREET taco, making it utterly inedible.I expressed my disappointment to the employee, expecting some level of understanding or remediation. Instead, I was met with an argument, as the employee tried to justify the excessive grease. At nearly 50 years old and having tried many tacos, I can confidently say this was the worst I've ever had.In my opinion, the customer is always right, especially when they have a witness to back up their claim. I wouldn't recommend eating here, even if you were starving. This was a deeply disappointing experience and one that I hope others can avoid.
Passing through town! 4 min detour. Authentic Mexican! mini tacos are legit! Delicious!
From the street, it does not look like a good place to eat for some people. But I can assure you that it's a nice atmosphere restaurant to enjoy a nice Mexican dish. The service is great. They were very attentive at all times. I ordered some discada tacos. They were amazing. A+ in my books. For sure I will go again during my travel through there. English - Spanish language spoken.
