See All ReviewsI'm giving a lower mark for the food because despite it tasting good it wasn't cooked to order. Asked for over medium eggs and they were quite runny. The bacon was not fully cooked but generous pieces and got three. I really like rye toast and it's hard to find good rye and they had it here and buttered it well. I'm a tea drinker and yay they had honey. If one uses a credit card it's going to be 4% extra which I believe is above reasonable.
We were visiting the area from Metro Detroit for the weekend for a wedding. Cell service was horrible and our newborn baby was napping at our Airbnb with grandma. My husband and I drove up to place a carry out order, considering my phone wouldn’t dial out and my baby was sleeping. When we arrived, it was extremely busy and we were asked how many in our party. We asked if we could do carry out and we were told yes, but it wouldn’t take precedence over people dining in, and that it would be 45 minutes to an hour wait. That was fine, we understood. That waitress went back to another waitress who asked her, “they don’t just want to sit at this table?” The first waitress responded, “no, they just want to do carry out.” 2nd waitress, rolls her eyes and says, “well I just don’t understand the McDonald’s mentality.” We went back to the Airbnb and waited an hour before driving back to get our food. When we walked in we were told it would be another 20 minutes. So we decided we would run to the gas station in town really quick and be back in 20 minutes. Came back after 20 minutes and were told it would be another 10. We waited another 20 MINUTES standing in the restaurant. Upon waiting an hour and 40 minutes, we received our food and took it back to our Airbnb to eat. The best thing about the meal was that the french toast was sourdough. The food was barely average and definitely not worth the hour and 40 minute wait. I guess this place of business is just lucky there aren’t very many restaurant choices for breakfast in the area. Between the rude waitress noting our “McDonald’s mentality” because we didn’t want to dine in and waiting so long for sub par food, there is a 0% chance we will ever return to the establishment, let alone Drummond island. The locals in general seem very uppity and rude. We were honestly just happy to leave Drummond Island altogether and that dining experience was one of the worst parts of our trip.
The Bear Track offers one of the best breakfasts on Drummond Island. They give great portions and very reasonable prices. I enjoy this place each time I'm on the island. Make sure you have loose fitting clothes on when you go to eat there. You're gonna need them.
