See All ReviewsFirst time there and the food was very good. Waitress was attentive, but not overly so we could have nice conversation
My family and I have ate at the Depot many times. Most of the time we have had pretty good service other than a couple of times but I believe the young girl hadn't worked their long so we understood. One of the ladies that work there is really nice and friendly. My daughter and grandson love the popcorn chicken kids meals. I feel like the grilled tenderloins have changed over time which is a little sad because that's what I usually order and they use to be the best. But I still like going there because they have veggie soup often and thats my favorite soup. I wouldn't recommend getting carry out tho. Tonight we ordered carry out for the first time and i asked what were the sizes of the soups to go. We were showed two different sizes assuming that they get fairly filled up and they definitely didnt. My "bowl" had about the same as my sons cup of vegetable soup. And my "cup" of potatoe soup had a piece of plastic in it. The potatoe soup was hot but the vegetable soup wasn't hot. On the plus side My kids said their coconut cream pie was really good. I would just suggest dining in instead of carry out.
What a great surprise for travelers. Friendly efficient staff. Definite truck stop atmosphere featuring very worn booths. I gave 5 stars for atmosphere because I felt the history behind each torn vinyl booth seat and it felt like a breath of fresh air. The cardboard box at the entrance offering free turnips to a good home and the telephone number offering free roosters added to the ambience. Asking a neighboring table how the stuffed pepper special she ordered opened up a conversation with one of the locals. This gave me a quick glimpse into The Depot's weekly variety. What a treat and to top it off, my Philly Sando...well it was the best I've ever had!
