Celebrated my daughter’s graduation at The Oyster Bar. The waiter and manager (or owner, not sure) made special celebration AMAZING. They were attentive, accommodating, and considerate. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you, Oyster Bar❤️
They get live mariachi music at least on Sundays, the food and service is very good, not excellent.
So. Damn. Good. I got the half order of the fisherman’s platter and it was amazing! The fish was so fresh, and the batter on everything was awesome. I haven’t had seafood this delicious in forever. Our waitress was super lovely and very helpful, she was on top of drinks and everything came out super fast. I loved the rolls and I definitely want to return to try more of their menu. The manager was super nice and a really friendly individual as well. Worth the visit! 🐟🍤💕
Yikes! …prices are much higher than when I was here less than two years ago, and be aware that the prices shown on their online menu are NOT current. They also now charge extra for that small baked potato that used to be part of the combo meals. I still love their fried shrimp meal (11 shrimp w/ tiny salad) but it cost me $20 (with potato & taxes) for the takeout version so I’ll likely hesitate to stop by again anytime soon. Too bad… I’ve been visiting this place every time I’ve visited Brownsville for many years.
I like this place. It's been in Brownsville forever. I haven't been since i was a kid, and the carpet and furniture are still the same. That said, it's still a nice solid seafood place. Definitely NOT Marisco (Mexican style seafood). It has classics as shown in the menu. We all ordered different dishes to try a few things. We enjoyed all the food. This is small town seafood (and we now live in Dallas for reference), not a fancy place. Simple and small menu. The food tastes homemade which is great. Fish sandwich on toast was good. A real / normal portion and the fried fish was done well. Broiled Shrimp was also a good normal portion. Tasted similar to some shrimp scampi, just much less buttery. The stuffed shrimp was big and very filling. The crab stuffing had some green/bell pepper in it?? It was different and good. I didn't try the seafood soup, but the 2 people in our group who did finished it all up. Nothing left at all. We also ordered oysters. They were good and fresh. They even included a monster sized one that was the size of my plate. Yes, some shells look small, but the oyster covered the entire shell. I've been to other big city chains where the small oysters are small. Finally, the staff is just laid back and friendly. Great to be there with them.
Love this place. It's always consistent and delicious. We try to go every time we're in town. Oysters are always fresh. The staff is always friendly. The environment is always welcoming.
First time there, had a fried baby snapper and stuffed shrimps, both were awesome, haven't really been to other sea food places but this one is very nice, totally worth to give it a try. Will definitely go back.
Grabbed lunch here with my wife and while the food was decent I wasnt blown away. Started by splitting a bowl of clam chowder and it was bland/boring and about red lobster quality. I then ordered the 2 fresh stuffed crab and it was ok. My wife got the french fried shrimp and reports it was also good but nothing specaticalar. I think I just had higher hopes from an exclusively sea food restaurant along the beach. What I can give kudos to is the service was fantastic.
