4 weeks agoThis food was okay. Very limited vegetarian options. It's the first time I've tried this restaurant and I will probably never go here again. It's not bad, just not worth the time and money compared to other options around town. The decorations were cute - red lanterns all throughout.

a month agoPlaced a large order to go for 11 people and everything was correct and SO delicious. I’m not really a sushi lover but I HAD to try this 1888 roll and it did not disappoint at all. So happy w the customer service, the time it took to receive our food and the food over all! 10/10!!!

a month agoFood was tasty. My favorite thing was all the different sauces and chiles available. Made the experience more enjoyable! Keep up the good work!

3 months agoGreat first time experience at Red Lantern; the Bento box was excellent, the Tofu Soba was good, Diet Coke & a Raspberry tea as beverages. We ordered a Seaweed Salad to go which was $8., once home we discover it was 1/4 cup of salad, extremely overpriced for the portion of Seaweed Salad, although tasty.

5 months agoAwesome food tons of flavor, the bento box was a steal of food for the price! A hidden gem! Def going again ! Great food and ordered extra sushi got home the bill was affordable! The service was great our serber was so kind and helpful! Must try!

6 months agoWhat I got - Steak Teriyaki Bento and pork egg rolls. Food - The flavor was okay and for the price its not terrible, but the meat was dry and cold when I got it. The pork egg roll was very flavorful and the sauce was good, also it was notably warm unlike the steak. Service - Fast and respectful they did mix up my drink and refilled it with something else but accidents happen so it didnt bother me. They rush us a little to get desserts. Atmosphere - Plenty of space and a calm modern radio station playing. Decorations are modest but suit the vibe they were going for. Overall - Relaxing place to sit eat with someone. Just not the best food. Would place it a step below a good buffet but above fast food.

Edited 7 months agoEdit: I just noticed my review from the Chalkboard has been transferred to the Red Lantern. This is odd and misleading. The Red Lantern is owned by the former Chalkboard. Having just eaten at the Red Lantern, I can say it is good but the kitchen was overwhelmed by orders. One table refused their food because it was too cold. Our food took 45 minutes. The waitress apologized and im willing to give it another try. 3.5/5 Previous review of the Chalkboard: Great new restaurant that has it together despite a recent opening. I had the tofu fried rice and veggie spring rolls The rice dish had carrots and peas and was perfectly done. They use brown rice. Tofu breading was crispy with a soft center. They nailed it. Spring rolls were perfect, crispy outside and not overcooked inside. There are probably more vegan dishes here than in all of Las Cruces. And yet meat eaters can be happy. Plenty to keep you satisfied. I tried the coffee which was fine. At $3 a cup, that seems high. Update: Take home containers are black plastic. According to a review of product recycling, it's harder to recycle. Best option would be cardboard based containers. As of this writing they have a 4.6/5 rating. In the restaurant business, that's phenomenal because some people are never satisfied. City Council wrings their hands about what to do to revitalize el Paseo. The owners of Chalkboard have probably done more to lift up local business on the street.
