1/5 Stars – Run-Down Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse Misses the Mark The first thing we noticed when pulling up to Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse was how run-down the place looked over grow. Weeds. Cracked up parking lot with everything under the sun growing out of it. Despite that, we decided to give it a go anyway, hoping the food and show would make up for the exterior. Unfortunately, it didn’t. Portions were surprisingly small for hibachi prices, leaving us still hungry. The chef had zero showmanship no onion volcano, no flying shrimp, nothing entertaining at all. It felt like a rushed grill session with no energy or flair. They even got our order wrong, which added to the frustration. Flavor-wise, everything was heavily slathered in thick teriyaki sauce—chicken, steak, shrimp, vegetables, and rice how the hatch you mess up fried rice this place sure did. After a few bites, it all tasted identical: overly sweet and sticky. Most hibachi places use oyster sauce or lighter seasoning that lets the ingredients shine. Here, the teriyaki completely overpowered everything. The shrimp especially missed that classic bright lemon zest finish to cut through the richness. Service was just way below average. Overall, this was a disappointing hibachi experience. Between the tired appearance, small portions, lack of entertainment, order mix-up, and sauce overload, we won’t be returning. Who ever is training and running the show here real should travel some place and check out a great hibachi restaurant there is a great one in the Christiansburg area maybe they can pick up a thing or two on how the restaurant should run and look.
There was food all over the counter I was sitting at.. Not only that the waiter dropped my drink all over me and didn't give me a new one.. The chef dropped the white rice that wasn't cooked on the floor and picked it up and cooked it. Not only that the chef got mad that we didn't tip him more... Don’t eat here. 100$ for 2 people
