See All ReviewsHidden gem! Talk about authentic home cooked Jamaican food. This is it! The restaurant has a modern yet traditional feel. I ordered a large curry chicken and a large oxtail (the large is enough to serve for lunch and dinner) both were exceptional. You could taste that it was well seasoned, cooked with passion. Uncle Phil's is IT. This restaurant has the potential to be the best Jamaican restaurant South Florida has to offer. Can't wait to go again.
So I’ve been searching for a really good place to have curry chicken. (trust me I’ve tried them all) when I went to tires plus I struck up a conversation with a Jamaican fellow and I asked “hey where is the best curry chicken? “He quickly replied “Oh you got to go to uncle Phil”. The first time I went there I was greeted with a friendly smile. But I was blown away by how good the food was. In short the food there is made WITH LOVE. My family owns ITALIAN restaurants in Broward and Palm Beach and I can tell when food is made with love. I ordered again yesterday for my two coWORKERS and they too were blown away on how fresh the rice and peas was...How tender the chicken was and how tasty the coleslaw vegetables were. The plantains... everything about this place is amazing and they deserve to be patronized and to become a successful mom and pop shop in our area
Our late father owned a top-notch West Indian Jerk Chicken restaurant in NYC, so we decided to eat Jamaican food the entire week here. Uncle Phil's was the fourth different restaurant we patronized, and I (we) attest that Uncle Phil's is the best! First, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere and vibe of the reggae music puts one at ease. Cleanliness is top-notch. We ordered Oxtail, Brown Stew Chicken, fish, rice and peas and plantains. Everything was cooked to perfection! While we waited for our entrees, we were also served Venezuelan Tequenos which were delicious. Friendly people. Delicious food. Excellent service. I and my family highly recommend Uncle Phil's as it is the only one we have consciously revisited. Just fix your GPS to 3856 N. University Drive in Sunrise and arrive prior to 5:00 PM (modified hours due to COVID).
