Next stop on my hot dog tour, Vassi's. The classic custard/hot dog stand look and ambiance with a dine in addition. Obviously situated here decades ago before the inundation of traffic and Interstate intersection, looks a little out of place. Inside is clean and inviting. I chose their "New Jersey Hot Dog", topped with BarBQue sauce and 'onion strings'. I'm guessing they're emulating the famous Jersey Rippers but either because they're Berks dogs or pot fryer or simply reheated, it was chewy and unappealing with the sauce slobbered all over with a couple soagy onion rings layed over the top.
Great place to stop for something different. If you're sick and tired of burgers and fries and chicken sandwiches why not try this place! I had the lamb beef gyro it was very good we sat outside at the picnic table there was a nice breeze Price was fair service was quick we were right back on the road within 20 minutes!
Soo yummy and exactly what I needed after a day of being tattooed at Hellertown Tattoo Co. I told my artist I needed a good burger and we came here. Plus I got a chocolate malt shake and that was perfect as well. Highly recommend.
The food is pretty good. Not everyone is super friendly, but they are polite. Some of our food was cold (onion rings) but the rest was good (gryo and wings). Some things are overpriced and some things are very reasonable. They charged me 95 cents for a styafoam cup of water which I don't really understand. They also don't give you napkins for some reason when you get your food and there are none on the tables. We did find a napkin dispenser in the corner of the room though.
I love this place. Truly a hidden gem just off Rt 78 in Hellerton Pa. They have several picnic tables out front and indoor seating in back. The people there are always friendly and helpful. Here is the secret they have one of the best Gyros you can find. You would not expect it here. They are large stuffed with meat onion lettuce tomatoes and tzaiki sauce. Everything about it is top notch. I give the atmosphere 3 stars only because it's right off the street but go inside and you step back in time small town America.
We were making a stop at the Lost Caverns on our way home from the Poconos, and we had some time before our tour. Plus, it was around lunchtime, and we came across this place right off of the highway exit. Easy to get into and park, and the food was great. There were 5 of us, and between the group, we ordered the patty melt, gyro, burger, and chicken fingers. All the options were great, and everyone enjoyed what they got. It's definitely a great stop for food if you are in the area.
The best and easiest stop right off I-78. We had the chicken breast pita and it was delicious! The pita bread was super fresh and the chicken juicy. Highly recommend! And don’t forget the onion rings. Hot and crispy! Yum!
A perfect little place for a quick bite. You can grab and go at the takeout window or relax at a booth inside. Their gyros are amazing! Made fresh as you wait with top quality ingredients and served hot. The French fries are crisp with a buttery smooth inside and seasoned perfectly. I love the nostalgia they have throughout the dining room. Takes you back to a simpler time. The staff have always been friendly and the food is prepared in a timely manner. Definitely a spot to check out if you’re local or swing by while in town. Great food, great people. Pricing is reasonable too.
