Ribs were OK but sauce was not good. I ordered rib tips and they were terrible. The rib tips had no taste and they were just leftover scrap meat. This is not Vicki's original BarB Q. They don't do good job with their product.
Just spent 94 bucks and didn't receive my full order. No way that was a pound of shrimp and they left out our 2 mac n cheese. When I try and call, nothing. To make it even worse, he repeated the order back to us twice. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but I need my whole order please. I live nowhere near your establishment
My wife and I were really excited to finally stop at Vickie's but unfortunately, after picking up our order we came home to very burned, dry ribs. With such polite service, its hard for us to leave this review. The fries were good but the rib tips and bbq chicken were awful. The ribs - i cant chew them, i have to work really hard. My wife tried to doctor them up to fix the taste but they were beyond repair. I would try going back one more time get something better. My wife said she would not.
Felt like the older lady was being biased when me and my brother walked in, she literally watched us from the outside walk-in which was no problem to me, I don’t really trip anymore when I go into a store and the workers don’t speak but it was the fact that an older man walked in right behind us and she greeted him with much respect. I guess it was because we were young but it shouldn’t matter. Everyone that’s supporting your business should be treated the same. Apart from the bad customer service which I sadly expected from a place that look like that, I heard that the food was really good and they have been there for many years, I chose to try the bbq ribs, fries, and shrimp. Shrimp was delicious, nice, fresh and crunchy, and went well with the sauce and crackers. The ribs were ok and they Should not had put that stale wheat bread in the bag but 🙃and I liked the bbq fries. I would come back for the shrimp and fries.
I... LOVE...THIS...PLACE... The commute for me is 40 mins each way and i don't mind. First of all, the owner, is exactly who you want there. You get cousin/untie vibes from her and once she knows you, she is definitely going to make you feel at home and kid and joke with you as her attitude is radiant. Even her mother was there once and we laughed about her daughter and her great personality. Now, for the food. I am a half slab kind of dude. Vicky's is a no fuss, rib joint. they don't have 77 menu items but the meat is delicious. I wish they had a different potato besides fries because the fries when wrapped turn to mush in a way. I also think they should make their sides from scratch because they sort of taste like they're from a can or a Gordon's. That aside, if you are willing to make your own sides and just want a good rib, theirs are good. I like it here
I live right around the corner and always make it a point to support local businesses—and Vikki’s Legendary Detroit Pit Barbecue truly earns its name. The food is rich with flavor, cooked with love, and always served with that genuine Detroit hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The smoky aroma hits you before you even walk in, and every bite reminds you you’re eating something special. This is the kind of place that carries the spirit of the neighborhood—honest, soulful, and unforgettable. If you’re in Detroit and want real barbecue made from the heart, Vikki’s is the spot.
I've never written a food review before. But after yesterday's (6/1/25) disappointment with Vikki's BBQ (under new ownership) I have to speak out. I was so happy to see that my now used to be favorite BBQ was reopened. I paid $31.00 and when I got home and opened my bag I found some mostly burned up ribs and sauce that did not taste like the original Vikki's. The sauce had a grainy texture like a lot of paprika had been added and didn't dissolve. The ribs tasted like they were reheated, mostly had a burned crust on them and only part of the slab was edible. The server was very nice, but then not so nice because she had to see that those ribs were burnt. That only food star is for the baked beans which were delicious.
Yo, I had the worst experience at Vicki's the other day. I was craving some rib tips and fries, so I went there since it's a local spot from my childhood. The place looks a bit run-down, but I didn't mind. i love mom n pop shops. I placed my order and waited, but then I noticed the cashier taking another order and money without washing her hands. She put on one glove to cut up my rib tips, but that didn't really make me feel any better. When I got my food and opened it up in the car, the smell hit me like a ton of bricks. I tried to eat a few pieces, but the taste was just awful. It tasted like the pig had been raised in a gas station on W. Warren. And the bread that came with it was hard and stale. I had to chew gum to get rid of the taste. Man, that place has really gone downhill since I was a kid. It's a shame because I used to love Vicki's. Hopefully, this was just a bad day.
