See All Reviews5.23.36: My parents brought us our favorite pizza, Village Inn, up to Asheville today and picked it up around 12pm. Unfortunately, it wasn’t like our usual Village Inn experience. I am a Hickory native and know my Village Inn pizzas. It was too thick of a crust and i have never seen more cheese on a pizza from Village Inn in my life. And it wasn't even cut all the way through and we had to cut it ourselves when it arrived. We were so excited to enjoy a Village Inn pizza and were sadly disappointed.
I’m speaking only from using door dash for delivery, I’ve never eaten in the restaurant so keep that in mind when reading my review. I’ve ordered take out from Village Pizza twice now, both times my food has arrived hot and exactly what I ordered. Which I know is in part due to door dash. Being new to town (my husband and I just noted to morganton in June 2025) we’ve been wanting to try local places as much as possible, Both times we’ve ordered Village Pizza we have received excellent food and have been very satisfied. I’ll order again and again for good pizza. Again I speak from only using delivery service and I haven’t actually eaten in store. Reminds me of a pizza shop back home in eastern NC I frequented a lot.
The pizza was disappointing—more like cold crackers topped with jarred tomato sauce and overly charred cheese than a fresh pie. The restaurant is self-service, yet staff still prompted for a tip, which was shocking given the level of service provided. During the meal, a large, noisy cart was used to clear dishes while guests were still eating, which disrupted the dining experience. Apparently they don't know that plates should not be removed until all guests have finished and left the table. A staff member felt the need to call out when new pizzas were added to the bar. I felt like I was at the circus. The salad also raised concerns; the greens did not appear washed, and the dressing was thin and watery. On a positive note, the restroom seemed clean and well-maintained. My dining companions discussed all the other pizza places in the County and we determined we liked this place the least. We will not be returning.
