I've faithfully been going here for more than 30 years and it's always been stellar. My daughter demands we visit Viva when she's home from New York.
The staff is very friendly, but absent. It was over 30 minutes after our table was cleared before we decided to go to the hostess to pay. We had nice generous portions, though bland - like canned shredded chicken with no seasoning, and rice the color of Mexican rice, just without the seasoning.
Review is about take out food. We didn't dine in. It was our first time ordering from here. It was definitely last time too. We got enchiladas in red sauce and a combination plate with chille relleno, enchilada and a chimichanga with pork. Everything looked ok in the boxes but it tasted terrible. First of all chille relleno literally consisted of 1/4 piece of a green pepper inside the batter. No cheese, no meat inside just some cheese shreds sprinkled on top. Enchilada had a few chunks of meat inside. Chimichanga was exactly the same as enchilada but tortilla was folded differently, it wasn't deep fried. It had only a few chunks of pork inside, no beans, no other fillings. Just plain meat pieces. There was some sour cream and guac on the side. The red enchilada sauce appeared to be just watered down tomato sauce or paste. Nothing was seasoned, everything was very very bland. The only flavor apparent was citric acid from the tomato sauce can that was used to make the sauce. My whole plate just tasted slightly sour, nothing else. Very bad, bad take on "Mexican" food and flavors. I know Washington has problems with Mexican food but this was a new low.
Haven't eaten there in many years. Food today was so good. Service was also the best.
5 Stars – Outstanding Food, Welcoming Atmosphere, and True Community Feel We absolutely love Viva Mexico Restaurant. The quality of the food and drinks is always top-notch and well worth every dollar. I’m not sure if it’s family-owned, but it definitely feels that way. The atmosphere is warm, genuine, and welcoming — the kind of place where the staff remembers your name and makes you feel like part of their family. It’s also one of the few truly kid- and family-friendly restaurants in the White Center area, which makes it even more special for us. We’ve celebrated birthdays, random weeknight dinners, and just about everything in between here, and every visit has been wonderful. Everyone on staff is great, but it’s always an extra treat when Joel is our server! He is always so patient with us getting our kids settled good recommendations and just overall a great server - thank you Joel! You can’t go wrong with the carne asada or taco salads (my personal favorite, especially with a side of deep-fried jalapeños). Whether you’re stopping in for a family meal, casual dinner, or a drink with friends, their non-alcoholic options, margaritas, and cocktails never disappoint. Thank you to the whole Mexico team for making every visit feel like home.
My wife and I had an amazing lunch! Quick and friendly service, food was excellent and our server was polite and accurate in getting our orders. I recommend this place!
I always love Viva Mexico. My family and my uncle really love going here. The food here is delicious and well made. The service is good and the drinks come in big cups. All in all, a wonderful and friendly atmosphere.
One of the best Mexican restaurants in South Seattle. We drive all the way here and we stay next to a few other Mexican restaurants. Extremely nice staff and quick getting your food. Best virgin strawberry daiquiris also. Going again next weekend.
