See All ReviewsThis place is worth a detour. The ribs were the star of the show and melted off the bone. The pork plate was delicious, especially with their housemade vinegar-based sauce. The hushpuppies had a great crisp. The owner, Ralph, was friendly and helpful. He clearly takes pride in his work - it shows. We'll look forward to returning for his recommendation, the loaded baked potato.
I got the brisket and it was amazing! Very quaint spot. Definitely gives the small town feel. The brisket had great bark and was lean and fatty in the best way. The scalloped potatoes tasted like I remember they're supposed to taste. And the banana pudding is not store bought. It's not custard based but it's the whipped pudding sort; very good. The service was attentive. The male server was warm and Southern nice, iykyk. Overall decent experience and I'm glad we stopped in on our way through here!
Tonight my husband and I had dinner at Winners Circle, and I truly can’t say enough about how incredible it was. I ordered the chicken quarter with collards and green beans. The chicken was so flavorful and perfectly cooked that it didn’t need a drop of sauce. The collards immediately took me back to my grandmother’s kitchen, and the green beans tasted just like my mom’s. It’s rare to find restaurant food that feels this personal — like you’re sitting at a family barbecue surrounded by the people you love. This wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience. After dinner, my husband ordered the Maple Bacon Cake “to go.” It made it into the box… but not out the door. He finished the entire slice in under a minute. I managed to grab one bite, and wow — completely unexpected. It’s like a maple bacon donut transformed into a light, perfectly balanced cake. Sweet, savory, fluffy — and somehow not too heavy. We were both wishing we had ordered two. The owners were warm and welcoming, and the entire place felt inviting. You walk into this unassuming building on Main Street in Wilkesboro expecting a simple date night — and you leave feeling like you’ve just had one of the best meals of your life. Do yourself a favor and go taste it for yourself. Just wow.
